Usually, I don't really talk about typical touristic sites where tons of foreigners invade them but as I am a nature aficianado, I won't go under silence this wonder of California.

General Sherman is not specifically known under the trait of a man by the tourists. On the other hand, the touristic site in question was named in honor of commander William Tecumseh Sherman. The site in question is a tree, but not any kind of tree! Even though it is not the tallest or largest tree, it has been mentioned as having the largest trunk at its base (52,508 square feet, which qualify it as having enough volume to produce a wooden walkway two feet large and a length of 60 miles!).

The tree weights in average 1,385 tons or the equivalent of nine adult blue whales! So, it is a touristic site that you have to see once in your life. I have seen it in person 13 years ago and I can attest that this tree is really impressive. The General Sherman is located in the Giant Forest of the National Sequoia Park, off highway 198 east, near Visalia in California. The park is open all year long.
