How much did you say?

Fans of old antique autos, how much would you spend for a true beauty? It all depends of the type of car, naturally. If I tell you the car is a 1936 light blue Bugatti, how much would you shed to acquire such precious jewel?

The car, in excellent condition, was initially acquired by Lord Victor Rothschild of London and was recently bought by a rich anonymous American who spent more than $30 million for it.

The car is currently being exhibited at the Jullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, California.

For some, it is an expensive hobby!

Notre nouvel escalier / Our new Stair

-------------------------------

For those who came to my house lately, you will agree that our stair started to show sign of aging. Some steps were not that sturdy and time and erosion started to creep in slowly on the stair.

So, in a joint decision, we decided to completely redo the stair as well as adding a new big deck. Our neighbor, Bob Berry, a talented carpenter, took care of this project from A to Z.

The photos below shows the process from beginning to end. We are very satisfied of our new remodeled stair.

Serpent à sonnette! / Rattlesnake!

-------------------------------

For those who believe rattlesnakes only live in arid ground such as Arizona or New Mexico, think twice! We have been really surprised yesterday morning to find in our garage a snake of that specy.

We put him in a cage and I made a small movie of this creature.

La plus belle rue du monde / The prettiest street of the world

------------------------------

For me, it is one, if not, the nicest street of the world. I traveled around the world and saw many cities but none had a marvelous street that brings so much joy on the tourists’ faces.

The street I am talking about is Lombard Street, located in San Francisco. Eight tight curves that can be done dangerously at the wheel of a car but it is worth the experience. The street would be, apparently, not driveable if it weren’t for the curves’ existence. City engineers built the street like this in 1922 and it was only in 1950 that they planted hydrangeas to beautify the street.

We estimate that every day, during the summer season, more than 350 cars are driven on that street… every hour! What a crowd!

----------------------------------

Many of my friends and neighbors made beautiful gardens this year. Despite all, the nicest of all is the one made by Nelson Saez, a Chilean neighbor who live on our private road.

Many of my neighbors envy the green thumb of this proud gardener! Rain or shine, he is kneeing down in his garden. It is his great pride. Nelson is an achieved cook and it is one of his guilty pleasure to cook with his harvest.

Below are photos of his gorgeous garden:

Être mal assis… / These seats are made for suffering...

Bof…

---------------------------------------

While we stay in the same subject than furniture and chairs this morning, following my Sunday's blog feature, here is a type of chair that you won’t like at all. Look at the image below included with this blog and tell me how many minutes or hours you could bear sitting in this chair? If you want to save up on airfare, it is maybe the kind of seating arrangement that you may be offered by several airlines in the near future.

Well, not the big comfort! I also imagine all the health issues related on seating on this chair after a long trip. Does this chair is really worth the saving? Hum…

Goodbye Janene!

Garde contact Janene!

-----------------------------------

Who has the most dazzling smile at Google? Everybody would tell you that it is the gorgeous looking Janene López-Fairfield. It is with great sadness that we won’t see this sunshine in our department because yesterday was her last day among us at work.

Granted with incredible patience, dreaming the day where she will live in Italy and, particularly, having talent in dance, Janene will be a great asset for the next company that will hire her. She studied psychology and political science at Santa Clara University. We wish her all the best in her future projects.

Keep in touch Janene!

Dommage...

--------------------------------

Yesterday afternoon, I pleased the kids and went for a quick visit at the Santa Cruz County Fair. Well, I will admit to you that frankly, more the years are going by and more it is the same or even getting worst.

I always loved the farm animals, the old agricultural machineries as well as the gorgeous flowers on display. The thing where the quality really fails is the food sold and the expensive rate to pay to get into the rides.

I even start thinking that when the kids will be old enough, I will gladly not go to the Santa Cruz County Fair anymore. Too bad...
