Ah, quelle soirée hier! Cela doit bien faire 2 mois que cette date était marquée sur mon calendrier. Un show gratuit à Santa Cruz avec l’un de mes groupes de musique favoris des années 80s. Qui d’autres que les Loverboy!
Ils ne rajeunissent pas mais à voir la foule amassée au Santa Cruz Boardwalk, il y avait plusieurs fanatiques de ce groupe canadien. J’avais 14 ans quand j’ai litérallement tombée en amour avec le groupe et surtout avec le chanteur Mike Reno. Ah, il me faisait vibrer avec son fameux bandeau (qu’il porte toujours d’ailleurs!) quand il chantait la lyrique suivante: “You want a piece of my heart”. Misère! J’avais en tête de partir sur le pouce à Vancouver pour aller le voir. Comme quoi, on a parfois des idées farfelues quand on est adolescent.
Le groupe a présenté des chansons de leur nouvel album en plus de vieux hits tel que
“Turn me loose” et ma favorite “Working for the Weekend.” Il ne saute plus beaucoup sur la scène et sa voix n’a plus la haute tonalité qu’il pouvait atteindre en chantant “Turn me loose.” Qu’importe! Mike Reno me fait étrangement penser au personnage de bande dessinée Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) du film “The Incredible”. Il a engraissé mais il rentre encore dans son bandeau et sait faire vibrer le coeur de ces dames. En tout cas, cela a marché avec moi! Ha! Ha!
Ah, je vais rêver longtemps de cette magnifique soirée!

Ah, what an evening last night! It must have been at least 2 months that I put this date on my calendar. A free show in Santa Cruz with one of my favorite 80’s rock group. Who else than the Loverboy!
They are not getting any younger but seeing the crowd at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, there were many fans for this Canadian group. I was 14 years old when I literally fell in love with the group and especially the lead singer Mike Reno. Ah, he made me vibrate with his famous bandana (that he still wear by the way!) when he was singing on his music video: “You want a piece of my heart.” Ah man! I had in mind to leave for Vancouver hitch-hiking to go see him. Like, when you are a teenager, you sometimes have irrealistic ideas.
The group presented songs from their new album in addition to old hits such as “Turn me Loose” and my favorite “Working for the Weekend.” Reno doesn’t jump as much on stage and his voice doesn’t hit a high note with his voice when he sings “Turn me Loose.” Oh well! Mike Reno strangely reminds me of Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible), the famous Pixar character of the movie “The Incredible.” He gained weight but he still fits in his bandana and knows how to sweet talk the ladies. Well, it worked for me last night! Ha! Ha!
Ah, I will dream for a long time of this wonderful evening!

Un rêve qui est devenu réalité hier soir. /
Ah, I had to wait 27 years to live that moment and see Loverboy
in concert! Who would have predict, when I was 14, that I would
see them sing in concert on a US beach west coast where I would
have permanent residence? A dream that came true last night.
