L’Halloween, aux USA, on prends ça au sérieux! On décore les maisons autant que les gens ont l’habitude de décorer leur maison pour Noël dans ma province natale, le Québec.

Donc, aujourd’hui, c’est le temps de faire le tour du voisinage et voir les différentes décorations et costumes. Comme la maison d’Alex Palomar à Santa Cruz.

Il a fabrique des pierres tombales en bois et les a mis dans son parterre, a déposé deux citrouilles géantes de plus de 375 et 200 livres près du trottoir et a des fameux personnages qui font peur ou qui font du bruit. Mais ou a-t-il trouvé toutes ces choses qui parsement sa demeure? Alors que le parc d’amusement de Santa Cruz faisait un remodelage récemment, Mr. Palomar s’est servi et a ramassé des décorations qui lui serve aujourd’hui.

Halloween, in USA, we take it seriously! We decorate the houses as much as the people deck their houses on Christmas time in Quebec, where I am from.

So, today, it is time to go around the neighborhood and see different decorations and costumes. Like Alex Palomar’s house in Santa Cruz.

He made some wooden tombstones and put them in his front yard, he also displayed giant pumpkins (375 and 200 pounds) near the sidewalk, and spread thoughout his property some scary and/or noisy Halloween characters. But where did he find all these things that are on display on his property? While the Santa Cruz boardwalk had a remodeling recently, Mr. Palomar helped himself off the dumpster and found some nice additions to his Halloween collection.

Une fuite d’huile dans la Baie de San Francisco / Oil spills into S.F. south of Bay Bridge

La nouvelle a captée mon attention étant donné que notre voilier est amarré dans le même coin. On a détecté une trainée d’un mile de long d’huile au sud du pont Bay Bridge dans la Baie de San Francisco. L’accident s’est déroulé à 6:48 a.m. ce matin et a été causé par le paquebot Panamien, Dubai Star.

Malgré la peur d’un désastre écologique, on a toutefois détecté aucune trace d’huile qui s’est rendu jusqu’au berges. On a dépêché trois bâteaux pour nettoyer les dégâts avant qu’il ne soit trop tard. Cet incident n’est pas sans rappeler celui de novembre 2007 et qui avait causé la mort de 2,400 oiseaux et une facture salé de $70 million. On invite la population de la baie de San Francisco à contacter le 877-823-6926 s’ils voient des animaux marins en détresse.

The news caught my eye this morning because we have a sailboat that is anchored not far from where the incident happened. We detected a mile-long sheen of oil in the San Francisco bay, south of the Bay Bridge. The incident occurred at 6:48 a.m. this morning and was caused by the panamian oil tanker, Dubai Star.

Despite the fact of an ecological disaster, there was no reports of oil washing on shore as of 11 a.m. (P.S.T.). Three major oil cleanup vessels were sent before it becomes too late. This incident is a sad reminder of another one that occurred on November 2007 and that caused the death of 2,400 birds and a hefty bill of $70 million. We invite the populate to report any marine wildlife in distress to 877-823-6926.

Vivre en français… à San Francisco! / Living in French… in San Francisco!

Il n’est jamais facile de vivre la vie d’expatrié, surtout quand on part seul et que personne, dans notre pays d’adoption, ne parle notre langue maternelle. Bref, les premières années sont souvent les pires. Même si cela fait plus de 16 ans que je suis ici, j’aime toujours trouver de nouveaux endroits qui me rappelle la langue française.

À San Francisco, il y certains de ces endroits. Pour les personnes religieuses, rien de mieux que l’église Notre-Dame-des-Victoires (566 rue Bush, 415-397-0113 – www.ndvsf.org). Fondée en 1856 pour desservir les immigrants catholiques de langue française, l’église abrite la paroisse francophone des traditionels Maristes. Quelques messes y sont célébrées en français également. Attenant à cet église est un joli jardin centenaire. Le gouvernement français à commémorer le 100ème anniversaire de l’église avec ce petit jardin.

Qui dit français, dit consulat général de la France! Situé au 540 rue Bush (415-397-4330, www.consulfrance-sanfrancisco.org), il a été fondé en reponse de la vague d’immigrants francophones qui sont venus vers l’ouest.

Avez-vous faim? Le bistro Café de la Presse (352 avenue Grant, 415-398-2680, www.aqua-sf.com/cdlp) est la solution! Vous y goûterez des mets français dans une ambiance sympa. Ils ont également une vaste collection de magazine francophone à feuilleter.

Un autre suggestion est Le Central (453 rue Bush, 415-391-2233, www.lecentralbistro.com). Pour presque 35 ans, ce restaurant sert quotidiennement de la nourriture française telle que la fameuse soupe à l’oignon gratinée et le poulet rôti au jus, accompagné de pommes frites. Hum!

It is never easy to live as an expat, especially if you leave by yourself and nobody, in your adoptive country, speak your mother’s tongue. So, the first years are often the worst. Even though it has been more than 16 years I am here, I always enjoy finding new places that remind me of the French language.

In San Francisco, there are a few of these places. For religious people, nothing is better than the Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church (566 Bush Street, 415-397-0113 – www.ndvsf.org). Founded in 1856 to serve French Catholic immigrants, this church houses a French parish of the Marist tradition. Some masses celebrated there are in French. Next to the church is a lovely small centennial garden. The French government commemorated the 100th anniversary of the church with this charming petite garden.

Whoever say French, say Consulate General of France! Located at 540 Bush Street (415-397-4330, www.consulfrance-sanfrancisco.org), it was founded in response to immigrants arriving in the Western States.

Are you hungry? The Café de la Presse bistro (352 Grant Ave, 415-398-2680, www.aqua-sf.com/cdlp) is the solution! You will taste French meal is a serene ambience. They also have a vast collection of French magazines to peruse there.

Another suggestion is Le Central (453 Bush Street, 415-391-2233, www.lecentralbistro.com). For nearly 35 years, this restaurant offers on a daily basis French comfort food, including onion soup gratinée and roast chicken au jus, accompanied by pommes frites. Yum!

Ah, ma série de chroniques se poursuit cette semaine avec un autre sujet d’actualité. Avec toutes les fraudes que la population a été victime, je pense notamment aux victimes d’Enron et de Norbourg, même les Américains riches et célèbres ont perdus une partie de leur économie.

On dénote évidemment Michael Jackson, les années 80’s, les vampires et Lady Gaga! On se demande pourquoi les années 80s sont si populaire? On pense, qu’avec la récession, les gens préfèrent modifier leur vieux habits et économiser tout en ayant du plaisir à sortir costumée le soir du 31 octobre. Il y a fort longtemps que j’ai adoptée cette attitude et je peux vous dire que je reçois, à chaque année, bien plus de compliments sur mes costumes fait main que les autres personnes qui ont un costumes tout fait achetés.

Même si bien des femmes seront en Lady Gaga cette année (mon costume!), je ne pense pas que personne aura un costume aussi original que le mien. Qui veut parier?

We notice, of course, Michael Jackson, the 80s, vampires and Lady Gaga! So, why people are picking the 80s for their costumes? We think, with the current economy, that people prefer modify their old clothes and save money while having fun at a costumed party on the 31st. It has been a very long time I adopted this way of thinking and I can tell you that, each year, I receive more compliments on my handmade Halloween costumes than the other people who dress in store-bought costumes.

Even though many women will be dressed in Lady Gaga this year (my costume’s idea!), I don’t think anybody will have a better outfit than mine. Who want to bet on this one?

Le feu est revenu! / The fire is back!

On pensait qu’avec l’arrivée du temps plus frais ainsi de la tempête de pluie récemment, que la saison des feux de forêt était derrière nous. Eh bien non!

Hier matin, à 3 a.m., un feu a éclaté dans les montagnes de Santa Cruz. Cette fois, c’est dans la même région qu’en mai 2008, ce qui veut dire que le feu est techniquement plus près de notre maison. Ce matin, on sent même la fumée à l’extérieur. Avec des vents de 40 mph par moment, le feu s’est répandu à 600 acres. On craint surtout les conditions météorologique de demain car on annonce de plus grands vents.

Tout le monde a peur dans quelle direction iront les vents. Y compris nous…

We thought that with the arrival of the cooler weather as well as the recent rainstorm, that the forest fire were behind us. Well, not really!

Yesterday morning, at 3 a.m., a fire started in the Santa Cruz mountains. This time, the fire is happening in the same area than in May 2008, which means the fire is technically closer to our home. This morning, we could even smell smoke outside. With 40 mph winds by moment, the fire has spread to 600 acres. We fear tomorrow’s weather forecast because we are expecting stronger winds.

Everybody is scared to see in which direction the wind will blow. Including us…

Thriller!

Pour la troisième fois cette année, et ce en l’honneur de Michael Jackson, avait lieu la dance Thriller à travers le monde. Santa Cruz était au rendez-vous hier pour cette danse endiablée avec costumes. 236 zombies y ont pris part.

La danse avait lieu en même temps à travers le monde et c’est à 5:30 PM que la musique et le party a débuté. L’évènement est organisé par l’organisme à but non lucratif, Thrill the World. Initialement, cet évènement a été créé par la Canadienne Ines Markelle de Toronto en 2006 alors qu’elle avait organisée la plus grande danse Thriller au monde.

On espère que la performance d’hier à Santa Cruz aura été l’une des top 10 des Thrill the World dance.

For the third time this year, and this in honor of Michael Jackson, was the Thriller dance throughout the world. Santa Cruz was taking part of the event for this energized dance with costumes. 236 dancing zombies took part to the event.

The dance was going on all at the same time throughout the world and for Santa Cruz, it was at 5:30 Pm that the music and the party started. The event was organized by a non-profit organization, Thrill the World. Originally, the event started out by Canadian Ines Markelle from Toronto in 2006 when she organized the World Largest Thriller dance.

We hope that yesterday’s Santa Cruz performance would have been one of the top 10 in the Thrill the World Dance.

En forme pour courir? / In top shape to race?

Alors que la course à pied prends de l’ampleur en popularité depuis quelques années, on voit de plus en plus de décès survenant au courant des 10K, demi-marathons et marathons. Malgré le fait que les médecins nous disent que de faire de l’exercise régulierement allait améliorer notre qualité de vie, ce n’est pas tout le monde qui peut se taper une course de longue distance.

Ayant moi-même fait plusieurs courses de 10k, une course de 12k, un demi-marathon et un marathon, je sais que cela prends plus que du vouloir. Il faut se préparer mentalement et physiquement pour faire des courses, surtout lorsqu’on parle d’un marathon. Et on doit s’accorder un temps minimum pour s’entrainer et non s’inscrire à une course de longue distance sur un coup de tête…

Une ribambelle de décès lors de courses sont survenus au courant des derniers mois, tel que deux à San Jose lors d’un demi-marathon. L’un d’eux était un avide coureur qui avait plusieurs courses à son actif.

Bref, mieux vaut éliminer ce risque en consultant son médecin et évidemment, débuter graduellement un entrainement, quelque soit la durée de la course.

While running races is gaining in popularity since a few years, we see more and more death occurring at 10K, half-marathon or marathon events. Despite the fact that doctors recommend to do regularly exercises in order to increase the quality of our life, it is not everybody who can finish a long-distance race.

I have done many 10Ks, one 12K race, one half-marathon and a full marathon in the past and I know what it takes to do well these races… and complete them alive. We have to get ready physically and mentally, especially in the case of the marathon. And we have to allow ourselves a minimum time frame to train. Don’t register unprepared for a long-distance race!

Several deaths at racing events have happened in the last months, such as two in a San Jose half-marathon event. One of the victims was an experienced runner who had done several races without any problem before.

Well, it is better to consult your doctor before you make any big plan to do a race and, of course, start gradually your training, no matter the length of the race you long to do.

15 minutes de gloire! / 15 minutes of fame!

C’est Mark Twain qui disait que tout le monde méritait son 15 minutes de gloire. Eh bien, le tour est maintenant arrive à l’une de mes amies et collègues universitaire, Christine Rhee.

Tout comme moi, elle a étudiée l’animation et l’illustration à la San Jose State University et a graduée en mai 2009, soit un an après moi. Pendant les dernières années à l’université, elle a travaillée d’arrache-pied sur le film d’animation du professeur Scott Sublett, “Bye bye Bin Laden.” C’est un film pied-de-nez envers toute la saga d’Osama Bin Laden et de l’administration Bush il y a quelques années. Je me souviens d’avoir vue Christine fatiguée et découragée sans savoir si l’heure de gloire allait arriver.

It is Mark Twain who said that everybody deserves their 15 minutes of fame. Well, it is now the turn to my friend and former University classmate, Christine Rhee.

Like me, she studied Animation/Illustration at San Jose State University and graduated in May 2009, one year after me. During the last years at the university, she worked hard on Scott Sublett’s animation movie, “Bye bye Bin Laden.” It is a satirical movie about the Osama Bin Laden and Bush administration saga a few years ago. I remember seeing Christine so tired and discouraged by moment and wonder if something would come out of this project.

Un costume de mauvais goût… / A doubtful Halloween costume

Depuis quelques semaines, les journaux américains en parle de ce fameux costumes. Mis en marché initialement dans les magasins de grandes surfaces tel que Target et Walgreen, il a été retirer récemment sous la pression du public et de diverses associations. Mais de quel costume parle-t-on?

C’est un costume orange, comme celui que portent des prisonniers américains. Le costume fait une connection directe entre le fait d’être un immigrant illégal et d’être un criminel. Plusieurs petits commercants continuent d’offrir ce costume qui amène tout une controverse. Plusieurs voient en ce costume une blague, d’autres le voient comme un élément discriminatoire.

Since a few weeks, American newspapers talk about this infamous costume. Put on sale initially in superstores such as Target and Walgreen, it was removed under the population and organizations pressures. But which costume are we talking about here?

It is an orange costume, like the one similar to what wear American prisoners. It implies the direct connection from being an illegal immigrant and being a criminal. Many little stores still offer the costume that is bringing a whole controversy in USA. Many see a funny joke in it while others see it as a discriminatory element.

10 ans déjà! / Already 10 years!

Aujourd'hui, c'est un grand jour. Il y a 10 ans, ma vie allait être complètement changée. Ma fille Savannah est née. Donc, en ce grand jour, par une belle journée ensoleillée, je célèbre ce grand jour.

Plus d’électricité! / No more power!

À force d’être gentil parfois, on se fait manger la laine sur le dos! C’est ce que Manthri Srinath, propriétaire du café Lulu Carpenter à Santa Cruz s’est aperçu.

Il n’a jamais voulu faire de son commerce un café internet mais avec la force des choses (Internet sans fil gratuit et des prises de courant au mur), les clients du café se sont mis à abuser de sa générosité. Plusieurs venait encourager le café en achetant pour 10$ de breuvage et nourriture mais pouvait rester pendant plus de 3 heures attable. Bref, le propriétaire s’est aperçu qu’il perdait de la clientèle.

Sa décision vient avec un prix à payer: les consommateurs ont décidé de fréquenter l’endroit moins souvent, d’acheter en moindre quantité ou tout simplement aller ailleurs. Vous ne serez pas concerné par la nouvelle, si comme moi, vous avez un tout nouveau MacIntosh avec une batterie qui dure pour 8 heures!

You can be nice all you want but there will always be somebody out there who will try to take advantage of you! That’s what Manthri Srinath, owner of coffee shop’s Lulu Carpenter, in Santa Cruz, realized.

He never wanted to have his coffee shop transformed into an Internet café but with everything going on (free wireless and electric outlets off the wall), the coffee shop patrons started to take advantage of the situation. Many were coming by and buying $10 of food and drink and could stay more than 3 hours sitting at the table. This is when the owner realized that he was losing customers.

His decision came with a price to pay: patrons decide to either buy less from Lulu’s Carpenter, come by less often or just go elsewhere. You won’t be concerned with this news, if like me, you have the new Apple computer with a battery that lasts up to 8 hours!

Un cadeau qui roule… / A rolling gift…

Que peut bien vouloir une petite fille qui va avoir 10 ans? Quand j’avais l’âge de ma fille, je m’étais fait achetée une bicyclette 10 vitesses Sekine vert forêt. Ma fille Savannah, qui a étrangement les mêmes goûts que moi, a décidée qu’elle voulait également une bicyclette… verte!

Hier, nous nous sommes rendus au Family Cycling Center pour acheter son cadeau. Çi-dessous sont des photos de son cadeau:

What would a soon-to-be10-years old little girl want? When I had my daughter’s age, I received a nice hunter green Sekine 10-speed bicycle. My daughter Savannah, who strangely has the same taste than I, also decided to have a green bicycle!

Se préparer pour le pire… / To be prepared for the worst…

Demain, ce sera le 20ème anniversaire du gros tremblement de terre de la région de Santa Cruz. À l’époque, je demeurais au Canada mais mes voisins se souviennent de cette journée fatidique.

Hier, plus de 21,000 personnes dans la région ont pris part à 10h15 AM à un exercise pour se préparer pour un éventuel tremblement de terre. Tomorrow, it will be the 20th anniversary of the big earthquake of the Santa Cruz region. At the time, I was living in Canada but my neighbors remember this historic day.

Yesterday, more than 21,000 people in the area took part at 10:15 AM to an exercise to be prepared for an eventual earthquake. With all the events that have been going on with the Pacific plate these past weeks (tsunami, earthquakes from Asia to San Francisco), we feel concerned.

It will surely be the subject of the day for tomorrow and the upcoming week.

Un récent sondage du magazine Country Living, un de mes magazines favoris, révélait les céréales qui se vendent le mieux aux États-Unis. J’aurais pensé que les céréales super sucré que tout les enfants raffolent auraient remporté la palme. Eh bien non!

Six céréales sont sorties gagnantes. Tout d’abord, les Frosted Flakes avec son fameux tigre Tony qui sont arrivé sur le marché en 1952. Puis, les Honey Nuts Cheerios introduit aux Américains en 1979. Les céréales Life (apparut sur le marché en 1961) et les Go Lean Crunch, très grano et populaire depuis 2001. Ensuite, les Frosted Mini Spooners ont la palme également, surtout avec leur populaire commercial TV en dessin animé. Finalement et non le moindre, le Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds lancé il y a 20 ans.

A recent survey from the Country Living Magazine, one of my favorite magazines, revealed which cereals are the best selling ones in America. I would have thought that all the super sugary ones that kids adore would have won. Well, no!

Six cereals were the best of all. First of all, the Frosted Flakes with its famous Tony the tiger has a spot. These cereals come on the market in 1952. Then, the Honey Nuts Cheerios introduced to Americans in 1979. Life Cereal (appeared on the market in 1961) and the Go Lean Crunch, very granola and popular since 2001. Then, the Frosted Mini Spooners won a spot, probably due to the massive TV commercial with its cartoony character. Finally, and not the least, the Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds got a spot. The latter came on the market 20 years ago.

Now, you can compare if your favorite cereals appear on that list or not…

Se mettre les fleurs où je pense… / To shove your flowers where I think…

Ah, ce n’est vraiment pas ma journée avec le service à la clientèle aujourd’hui. La palme va surtout à un fleuriste en ligne, 1-800-flowers. Vous demeurez aux USA et voulez commander des fleurs pour livraison au Canada, n’utilisez pas leur service!

Dimanche, mon père sortait de l’hopital et j’ai eue comme idée de lui envoyer des fleurs. Comme je les ai commandées dimanche en fin d’après-midi, je me disais qu’il les aurait lundi. Lundi a passé et pas de nouvelle. Mardi est venu et toujours pas de fleurs. Ce matin, je me décidé d’appeler 1-800-flowers pour voir ce qui arrivait avec ma commande. Duh! On m’a dit poliment que le fleuriste le plus près de mes parents n’avait pas le type de fleurs que j’avais commandée. Donc, ils ont décidé de ne pas remplir ma commande. M’ont-ils appelé pour me le faire savoir? Ah non, cela aurait été trop difficile pour eux.

Je leur ai dit ma facon de penser au téléphone ce matin. Et même si 1-800-flowers a une section canadienne, j’ai décidée d’encourager un de leur compétiteurs, www.canadasflorists.com.

Du service, en voulez-vous, en v’là! Cela ne faisait même pas 5 minutes que j’avais passé ma commande en ligne qu’une fleuriste de St-Hyacinthe m’a appelée pour me dire qu’elle faisait le bouquet et qu’il allait être livré sous peu.

Moi, j’aime ça du monde qui ont un service à la clientèle exceptionnel!

Ah, it is not my day with customer service today. The lemon prize goed to an online flower shop, 1-800-flowers. You live in USA but you want to make a flower order to be delivered in Canada, don’t use their service!

Sunday, my dad was coming out of the hospital and I had the idea to send him flowers. Because I ordered them late Sunday afternoon, I thought he could have them on Monday. Monday came by and no news. Then Tuesday came and went and still no flowers. This morning, I decided to give a ring to 1-800-flowers to see what was going on with my order. Duh! I’ve been told that the flower shop near my parents’ house didn’t have the type of flowers I ordered. Therefore, they decided not to process my order. Did they call me to let me know? Ah no, it would have been too hard for them to do it.

I told them my way of thinking (not in such sweet words) this morning. And even if 1-800-flowers has a Canadian branch, I decided to go to one of their competitor, www.canadasflorists.com.

You want great customer service, here you go! It wasn’t even 5 minutes I made the online flower order that a St-Hyacinthe’s flower shop gave me a call to confirm the order and she was about to make it and deliver it within a few hours. Now, we’re talking!

I love companies that have such an exceptional customer service!

Et la tempête commence! / And the storm begins!

Oh my! Il mouille beaucoup dehors. On nous l’avait prédit: la première grosse tempête de pluie de la saison. Une bonne raison pour demeurer à l’intérieur aujourd’hui. J’ai été a l’extérieur pendant 5 minutes et je suis revenue trempée comme une lavette.

La pluie bat son plein depuis hier soir. Des douzaines d’accidents automobiles se sont produit et j’imagine qu’il y en aura plus aujourd’hui. J’ai la chance de ne pas à avoir à conduire à Silicon Valley aujourd’hui.

On a également peur à des glissements de terrain, surtout dans les endroits où la région a subi des incendies de forêt. Dans ces endroits, de même où je vis, on annonce entre 3 et 5 pouces de pluie aujourd’hui avec des vents pouvant aller jusqu’à 55 mph.

Sortez vos parapluies et botte de pluie!

Oh my! It is pouring outside. They had predicted it: the first big rain storm of the season. A good reason to stay inside today. I went outside for 5 minutes and I came back soaking wet.

The rain is coming down since last night. Dozen of car crashes have happened and I imagine more are to come today. I am lucky to not have to drive in that weather to Silicon Valley today.

People are also afraid of landslides, especially in areas where we have had forest fire in August. In these areas, as well as where I live, they predict between 3 and 5 inches of rain with winds up to 55 mph.

Don’t forget your umbrella and rainboots if you step outside!

Et ça continue… / And it continues…

J’ignore quand cette histoire prendra fin et de quelle manière mais on parle encore aujourd’hui des fameuses peintures volées à Pebble Beach en Californie. Plus les semaines avancent et plus les scandales sortent dans les journaux.

Depuis les tout débuts, les deux propriétaires des peintures volés avait affirmé qu’une de leur peinture, un Jackson Pollock de 20$ million de dollars, était disparue. Jason McCoy, le neveu du peintre Jackson Pollock et qui représente tout les oeuvres de son oncle, a formellement démenti le fait qu’une soit dite peinture évaluée à 20$ million, existe en fait.

Amadio cite le fait que contrairement aux autres peintures qui avaient un cadre, la peinture de Pollock était roulée. Des experts en art qui sont des fans de Pollock étaient surpris de voir qu’une de ses peintures étaient mise en rouleaux car Pollock travaillait avec plusieurs couches de peintures à la fois. Si le canvas était roulé, la peinture aurait craquelée. Pour avoir étudié l’art et vue en vidéo comment Pollock travaillait, je suis d’accord avec eux.

Après que la police locale ait débutée l’enquête, l’affaire s’est retrouvée entre les mains du FBI. Par contre, ils doutent que toute l’affaire est un vol. Il n’y a aucune accusation de fait pour l’instant mais la semaine dernière, les autorités policières commençaient à penser que les deux propriétaires pourraient être des suspects dans cette affaire.

I don’t know when this story will end and how it will but we still talk today about the famous stolen paintings in Pebble Beach, California. As the weeks go by, the scandals come out in the newspapers.

Since the very beginning, the two paintings owners had declared that one of the artwork, a $20 million Jackson Pollock, had disappeared from their house. Jason McCoy, Jackson Pollock’s nephew who also represents his uncle’s estate and body of work, has denied that the so-called stolen $20 million painting has ever existed.

Amadio said that, unlike the other paintings who were framed, the one of Jackson Pollock was rolled up. Art expert who are also fans of Pollock work were shocked to see that one of the artist’s paintings was kept rolled up because Pollock was always working in heavy layers of paint. If the canvas would be rolled up, the painting would have cracked. To have studied art and seen on video how Pollock works, I agree with this fact.

After the local police started the inquiry, the art theft is now in the hands of the FBI. However, they doubt that the theft is really one. There is no accusation for now but last week, the police started to think that both owners could be suspects in this story.

Ah, qui n’a pas rêvé d’écrire un livre et de le publier? J’en suis une de ces personnes mais avec le long processus de rejections des maisons d’édition, dont j’ai entendue parler, c’est un rêve qui m’apparaît difficile à réaliser. Eh bien, plus maintenant!

FastPencil (http://www.fastpencil.com/), une compagnie de Campbell en Californie, est un endroit unique où vous pouvez publier une ou plusieurs éditions de votre livre. Par exemple, pour une copie jusqu’ à 100 pages, vous ne payez que $10! Une vraie aubaine!

La compagnie a eu beaucoup d’attention des médias et auteurs qui ont été rejetés. Comme bien des idées de nouvelles companies, un des fondateurs de FastPencil, Michael Ashley, a créé sa compagnie après une expérience difficile à essayer de publier un roman que sa mère avait écrit.

Tournure surprenante des évènements! / Unexpected twist for the art theft!

Eh bien, depuis l’affaire des tableaux d’art volés dans la région de Monterey en Californie, il n’y a pas une journée qu’on en entends pas parler. Bref, maintenant on tourne les tables de bord et on accuse les deux soit-dit propriétaires, Angelo Amadio et Dr. Ralph Kennaugh, d’avoir fabriqué toute cette histoire.

Il n’y a pas d’accusation formelle à date. Par contre, on dit que l’histoire du vol des tableaux est pleine de contradictions. Les autorités policières pensent même que les tableaux volés n’existeraient simplement pas. Amadio ne se rappelait plus quels tableaux seraient assurés et lesquels ne le sont pas.

Toute une histoire abracadabrante et qui reste à suivre!

There is no formal accusation so far. However, there are lots of contradictions in the story of stolen artwork. The police authority even think that the stolen paintings could even not exist. Amadio couldn’t recall which paintings were insured and which ones are not,
