Pauline Roche

The artist I am featuring today is not your typical California-girl. Born in London but grew up in Australia from the age of seven, Pauline Roche now resides in San Diego after tasting the life in Boston and Tucson.

Pauline’s work has won a number of awards in juried exhibitions, including the Gold Medal of Honor at the Audubon Artists Annual exhibition, New York and others in exhibitions at the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, the Salmagundi Club and the American Artists Professional League, New York.

Of her art, she says: “I look for connections between people and art and often contemplate the lives and practices of painters in the past. I think about pigments and oil and linen and the smell of lindseed oil.”

Oh wow, love the first painting, has a bit of old fashion feel to it. :)

I just started learning oil painting, I prefer watercolor and acrylics.

Thanks for your lovely comment on my new post! I told my mom about your comment and she smiled. :)

Hi Eliza,

I've never tried oil painting but other painting medium and am quite successful at the result overall. I've heard oil painting is smelly and toxic. Thanks for your comment. :-)
