God of Carnage

A resolution that you should take in 2012 is to go at least once to the theater to see actors perform "live" on stage. As you well know, last summer, I paid season tickets for a theater company in San Jose.

Friday night was the premiere of the play "God of Carnage," which was a hit on Broadway a few years ago and also won a Tony Award. The play, starring Amy Resnick, Bob Sorenson, Joey Parsons, and Benjamin Evett. The acting is quite exceptional. There is no intermission in this room for 90 minutes. The story of the play is:

This sharp-edged comedy takes us on a rollercoaster ride to twisted depths and hilarious contradictions when "grown-ups" are called upon to tidy up children’s messes. Two sets of parents try to put their best foot forward to deal with the aftermath of a playground altercation between their sons. But any attempt at having a civilized conversation quickly devolves into a hysterical night of name calling, finger-pointing and throwing things. The men gang up on the women, the women gang up on the men, and what begins as a calm, rational debate among adults becomes a journey into the heart of human chaos and savage instinct.

"God of Carnage" was presented March 22 to April 15 SJRT. A play not to be missed for all those parents who know or helicopter for such persons.
