Déjà, c’est toute une sinécure pour renouveller un passeport Canadien pour un enfant. Non seulement on doit faire photographier les enfants avec un format photo différent du passeport américain mais il faut également trouver une personne d’autorité qui certifie que l’enfant existe et vit dans un pays autre que le Canada.
Ce n’est pas tout! On doit également trouver le moyen de faire le paiement (dollars comptant ou par chèque certifie) en dollars canadien. Aucune banque ou bureau de poste ne fait de transaction en dollars canadien malheureusement. Souvent, on doit se fier à la parenté du Canada pour qu’elle effectue un mandat-poste ou chèque certifié dans leur patelin. Mais, même là, bonne chance pour trouver l’adresse postale pour soumettre une demande de passeport pour un expatrié aux USA. J’ai due passé un bon 15 minutes à visiter de fond en comble le site web des passeports Canadien, puis, à bout de frustrations, j’ai appelée le consulat canadien à San Francisco pour parler à une personne.
Bonne chance! Ou bien il n’y a personne qui travaille là ou bien ils passent leur journée près de la machine à café aux frais des concitoyens canadiens. J’ai toute ma paperasse de prête mais aucune adresse pour envoyer ma demande de passeport.

Already, it is not an easy task to renew a Canadian passport for a child. Not only you have to provide a photo of your child that has a different format than the US one but you also have to find a guarantor (such as a dentist or doctor) who will certified that the child really exists and lives outside Canada.
And that’s not it! We also have to find a way to make the passport payment (cash or certified check) in Canadian currency. Unfortunately, no bank or post office in United States is able to provide payment in Canadian dollars. Often, we have to rely on relatives living in Canada to make a money order or certified check for you. But even then, good luck in finding the appropriate mailing address to submit your passport renewal if you are a Canadian expat in USA. I spent a good 15 minutes in the Canadian Passport website and, after enough frustrations, I called the Canadian Consulate in San Francisco to speak to a live person.
Good luck! Whether no one is working there or all the government employees spend their time near the coffee machine at the expense of Canadian citizens. I have all my paperwork but still no address where to send my passport renewal.
