Hier soir, nous sommes sortit en famille à l’occasion de la série de concert “Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music” et nous sommes allés voir le concert “Spices, Perfumes, Toxins!”
En un mot, merveilleux! La soirée était divisée en trois parties mais la musique de Avner Dorman (http://dormanavner.com/) m’a tout simplement ébloui. Influencé par les tendances du Moyen-Orient, plus spécifiquement l’Inde, je me suis sentie transportée par cette musique. Le tout était sous la supervision de Marin Alsop (http://www.marinalsop.com/), une chef-conductrice internationale. Deux artistes invités, Galen Lemmon (http://www.music.sjsu.edu/music/faculty-and-staff/galen-lemmon) et Steve Hearn (http://www.cabrillomusic.org/2009/steve-hearn.html) ont fait les percussions. Ils avaient appris le morceau par coeur et se promenait d’un instrument à l’autre comme s’ils avaient joué cette pièce toute leur vie. Même les enfants étaient subjugués!
J’espère qu’on entendra parler encore longtemps du compositeur Avner Dorman. Vraiment, c’est un talent à suivre!

Last night, we went out in family to see the concert “Spices, Perfumes, Toxins!” in the series of concert held by the “Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music.”
In a word, wonderful! The evening was divided in three parts but the music by composer Avner Dorman (http://dormanavner.com/) has blown off my mind. Influenced by the Middle-East music, more specifically India, I have let myself being transported during the concert. The piece by conducted by international conductor, Marin Alsop (http://www.marinalsop.com). Two invited artists, Galen Lemmon (http://www.music.sjsu.edu/music/faculty-and-staff/galen-lemmon) and Steve Hearn (http://www.cabrillomusic.org/2009/steve-hearn.html) played percussions. They had learnt by heart the piece and were traveling from one instrument to the next with ease. It was as if they had played this musical piece all their life. Even my kids were impressed!
I hope we will hear again from composer Avner Dorman. Really, he is a talent to follow!
