Où est George? / Where is George?

When I was young, I often wondered how many people had touched and owned the dollar I had in my piggy bank before I spend it and give it to another person. I am not the only person who wonder the same thing. Hank Eskin, a MBA graduate from the Wharton School, is the creator of the website www.wheresgeorge.com, that keeps an electronic eye on paper dollar in circulation. Users can register their money and see how far it will travel.

Eskin had the idea for the site during his lunch hour. Some dollars don’t travel far while others do. The Federal Reserve estimates the life of a paper dollar to 18 months while the hundred dollar bill will live up to 9 years. The paper dollar that has traveled the longest was registered in 2002 in Dayton, Ohio and has traveled more than 4,191 miles.

Small dollar, you will travel far if you want!
