Robert Louis Stevenson

Le 14 décembre 1969, les amateurs de l’écrivain Robert Louis Stevenson ont pu sauter de joie en l’ouverture d’un musée dédié à l’homme, le Silverado Museum. L’ouverture coïncidait avec le 75ème anniversaire du décès de l’écrivain.

Le musée, situé à St. Helena, est la réalisation d’un grand bibliophile, Norman H. Strouse. Pendant neuf ans, le musée était situé dans un bâtiment en vieilles pierres, The Hatchery. En mai 1979, le musée a déménagé ses pénates dans la St. Helena Public Library Center.

Le musée a fait l’objet d’attention international avec de nombreux articles ainsi qu’un documentaire de la BBC. Un petit bijou de musée à visiter!

On December 14th, 1969, fans of writer Robert Louis Stevenson were thrilled about the opening of a museum dedicated to the man, the Silverado Museum. The opening of the museum came on the 75th birthday of the writer’s death.

The museum, located in St. Helena, is the achievement of a bibliophile, Norman H. Strouse. During nine years, the museum was located in an old stone building, The Hatchery. In May1979, the museum moved its location to the St. Helena Public Library Center.

The museum has attracted international attention with numerous articles as well as a BBC documentary. A little jewel of museum to visit!
