Soirée pour le cancer / Fundraising evening for Cancer

Austin Bernard aimait jouer à l’extérieur avec ses amis. Il avait tout d’un petit garçon normal de 12 ans jusqu’à ce que le cancer du cerveau le frappe en juillet dernier. Après des mois de radiations et chimiothérapie, il poursuit toujours ses traitements même si la tumeur est disparue.

Le pire quand on est atteint du cancer aux USA est qu’il est rare que les frais médicaux soient complètement défrayé, même si on a la meilleure assurance maladie possible. C’est le cas pour la mère d’Austin qui doit débourser 20% des frais totaux pour les soins de son fils.

Afin d’aider cette famille dans le besoin, un ami organise aujourd’hui un festival en l’honneur d’Austin, le Austin-Fest. L’évènement se déroule de 15h00 à 21h00 au Felton Community Hall (information au 831-336-8258) et coûte 10$ pour 6 heures de musique et une encan silencieuse.

Austin Bernard loved to play outside with his friends. He was a very normal 12-years old boy until last July, when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After months of radiation and chemotherapy, he is still pursuing treatments even though the tumor is completely gone.

The worst for anyone who has cancer in the USA is that it is rare that all the medical bills are completely covered, even when you have the best health insurance possible. It is the case for Austin’s mom, who has to spend 20% of the total expense as an out-of-pocket bills for the care of her son.

In order to help this family in need, a friend organized today a special festival in honor of Austin, the Austin-Fest. The event will be happening from 3 to 9 PM at the Felton Community Hall (information at 831-336-8258) and cost $10 for 6 hours of music and a silent auction.
