Saviez-vous qu’il existe dans la région de Monterey en Californie l’une des institutions universitaires les plus reconnues au monde pour son programme de langues étrangères? La Monterey Institute of International Studies est une institution universitaire qui regroupe plus de 800 étudiants représentant plus de 70 pays et 90 langues.
Hier, j’ai été à leur porte ouverte. Une demi-journée informelle qui présentait la vision de l’université ainsi qu’une variété de programmes au niveau du baccalauréats et maîtrise. Je connaissais déjà la réputation de l’endroit pour avoir entendu parler que des diplomates venaient y étudier. Par contre, c’est en cherchant sur internet que je suis tombée sur l’un de leur programme au niveau de la maîtrise, le MA in Translation and Localization Management. J’ai toujours voulue faire une maîtrise et comme on dit, je magazine ces années-çi.
La maîtrise qui m’intéresse a une forte demande chez les companies informatique et les commerces électronique. Depuis ma graduation, j’ai développée un fort intérêt pour les e-commerce donc je voulais éventuellement orienter ma carrière pour être au service de ce type d’industrie. Le temps le dira si mon choix d’université sera à Monterey ou ailleurs…

Yesterday, I went to their open house. An informal half-day that presented the university vision as well as a variety of Bachelors and Masters programs. I already knew their reputation and have heard of diplomats who attended this university. However, it is while browsing the internet that I ended up on of their master degree program, the MA in Translation and Localization Management. I always dreamt to do a Master and I have to admit that I am shopping the right program these past years.
Silicon Valley high-tech industries and e-commerce have expressed a strong interest toward the localization management Master program. Since my graduation, I developed a strong interest in e-commerce so I want to orient my career to be involved with this type of industry. Time will tell if my university choice will be in Monterey or elsewhere…

That's wonderful. My eldest son attends Fr. immersion school, and I hope it sparks an interest in other languages as well.

Thanks for your comment. Knowing foreign languages is the best thing one can learn in life.
I will let the thought of this school sinks in my head. The tuition is really pricy but if it brings me a rewarding career, then, it is priceless!
