Arroyo Seco

Même si Arroyo Seco veut dire “vallée sèche” en espagnol, il n’y a rien de sec à cet endroit, situé entre Soledad et Greenfield, à partir de l’autoroute 101, en Californie. Faisant partie de la Los Padres National Forest, c’est l’endroit où nous sommes allés passer notre samedi le weekend dernier.

Par contre, pour faire ce genre d’excursion, vous devez être en top forme. L’eau peut atteindre plus de 40 pieds en profondeur et les falaises atteignent plus de 100 pieds de hauteur. Une chose peut être sure lors de votre visite: vous serez mouillé de la tête aux pieds! Même si l’endroit est paradisiaque, il faut l’éviter durant ou juste après la saison des pluies car toutes les mini plages seront submergés d’eau. Un terrain de camping attenant à l’endroit est disponible et fort populaire durant la saison estivale.

Although Arroyo Seco means "dry canyon" in Spanish, there's nothing dry about this place, located between Soledad and Greenfield, off Highway 101, in California. Being part of the Los Padres National Forest, this is the place where we spend our Saturday last weekend.

But you need to be in top physical condition to make the trek. The water is up to 40 feet deep, and the canyon walls form 100 feet towers. One thing is guaranteed during your visit: you will be soaking wet from head to toes. But don't visit during or just after the end of the rainy season or you may find the whole area under water. A nearby camping ground is available and is quite popular during the summer season.
