Dans cette dernière chronique sur ma série de 7 sur les dépenses de luxe des Américains riches et célèbres, c’est sûrement le luxe le plus connus de tous. Qui dit être riche, veut dire avoir un assistant personnel!
Croyez-le ou non mais après mes études il y a un an, alors qu’il n’y avait aucun emploi dans le domaine des arts disponible, je me suis offerte comme assistante personnelle. Je pense que bien souvent, il faut des connections pour avoir de tels emplois mais avec mon expérience de vie, je me voyais bien faire ce genre d’emploi. Surtout avec un salaire de 75,000$/an!
Par contre, être un assistant personnel veut souvent dire travailler avec du monde difficile (je pense au fameux cas du mannequin Naomi Campbell). Les assistants personnels sont surtout connus pour travailler pour des stars… qui agissent en star. Un des clients d’une agence est un chanteur rock qui, à 3 heures du matin, a appelé son assistant. Il avait froid donc au lieu de se lever pour aller se chercher une couverture supplémentaire, il a demandé à l’assistant, qui demeure a 30 minutes du chanteur de venir le faire pour lui.
Comme quoi, quand on a de l’argent, n’importe quelle demande n’a pas de prix!

In this last article on my series of 7 about the luxurious expense of the rich and famous Americans, it is surely the luxury that is the most well known of all. Who say rich; mean to have a personal assistant!
Believe it or not, but after I graduated last year and spent a worthless summer looking for a job in the art world, I offered myself as a personal assistant. I think you need special connections to have such positions but with my life experience and knowledge, I could have seen myself do that kind of job. Especially with the nice $75,000/year.
However, to be a personal assistant often means to work with difficult people (I am thinking of the infamous case of Naomi Campbell here). Personal assistants are often known to work with stars.. who behave like stars. One of personal assistant agency’s clients was a rock star singer who, at 3 a.m., called his assistant. He was feeling cold. But instead of getting out of bed and walking to the nearby closet, he called his personal assistant, who lived 30 minutes away, and asked him to come do it for him.
Like, when you have money, anything you want has no price!
