S’il le pouvait, il le deviendrait. C’est ce qu’à répondu le gouverneur Arnold Schwarzenegger (également connu comme le Terminator) à la question s’il aurait un intérêt à devenir le prochain président des USA.

Le fait qu’il soit né en Autriche le disqualifie pour devenir président. Est-ce un bien pour un mal? À vous d’en juger!

Conan O'Brien & Google

J'étais parmi une des chanceuses à assister hier matin à une apparition de Conan O'Brien au siège social de Google. C'est dans une salle bondée que le stand-up comique s'est arrêté pour 45 minutes lors de sa tournée de spectacle.

Après avoir visite le siège social de Twitter il y a un mois, c'était au tour des Googlers de bénéficier de son humour. Je dois avouer humblement que je n'avais jamais regardé son programme-TV car il était diffusé trop tard (eh oui, je suis une couche-tôt, lève-tôt).

Comme il n'est jamais trop tard, j'ai vraiment appréciée son humour mordant. Go Conan!

I was among the lucky ones yesterday morning to have attended a live performance of Conan O'Brien at Google headquarter. It is in a full-house that the stand-up comic stopped by for 45 minutes during his US tour.

After visiting Twitter headquarter a month ago, it was the Googlers' turn to enjoy his humor. I have to honestly admit that I have never watched his TV program because it was broadcasted too late for me (I go to bed at the same time than my hens!).

Because it is never too late to appreciate Conan O'Brien, I have really appreciated his unique humor. Go Conan!

Star va bien / Star is doing well

Star, c’est le fameux cheval blanc qu’on avait vue trotter sur l’autoroute 17 il y a deux semaine en pleine heure de pointe. Depuis son escapade, il est rentré au bercail vers sa maîtresse, Athena Muzumdar, une fillette de 10 ans.

Malgré la maigreur du cheval, il va mieux. Et c’est avec un énorme soulagement que la fillette, qui a débutée l’équitation à l’âge de 7 ans en Inde, a été réuni avec son compagnon.

Star, it is the famous white horse that went galloping on Highway 17 two weeks ago at morning rush time. Since its adventure, he came back home to its owner, Athena Muzumdar, a 10 years old girl.

Despite the skittish appearance of the animal, he is doing well. And it is with an enormous relief that the girl, who started riding at the age of 7 in India, was reunited with her companion.

Pouce vert / Green Thumb

Un autre printemps, une autre chance pour faire un jardin! Je dois avouer que j’ai beaucoup de talent mais malheureusement, je n’ai pas le pouce vert! Depuis que je vis aux USA, tout mes jardins ont pratiquement franchi le seuil de la mort après un mois et demi seulement. L’an passé, gros miracle, la moitié de mon jardin a survécu! Je m’améliore, ça bien l’air!

Donc, le weekend dernier, c’était le jardinage. Je suis allée chercher moi-même le compost en pick-up. Je me donne comme objectif de faire vivre le ¾ de mon jardin cette année.

Qui vivra, verra!

Another Spring, another opportunity to do a garden! I have to admit that I have several talents but, unfortunately, not the one of being a green thumb! Since I live in USA, all my gardens practically reach their last breath after only a month and a half I planted them. Last year, big miracle, because half of my garden survived! I am getting better at the gardening skill, I believe!

So, last weekend, it was garden time. I even drove myself to get the compost with our pick-up. This year, my objective is to grow ¾ of our garden this year.

Who will live, will see!

Foire de jeunes auteurs / Student Authors’ Fair

Comme à chaque année, le centre d’achat local, le Capitola Mall est l’hôte d’une importante foire: le Student Authors’ Fair. Financé par l’association de la lecture de Santa Cruz et de la COE de Santa Cruz, la foire encourage les étudiants à écrire et illustrer leur propres livres.

Le but de cette foire n’est pas de juger ou bannir des livres. Chaque livre qui est exposé à la foire reçoit un certificat. Je peux certifier que chaque livre est un labeur d’amour et prends plusieurs semaines pour les élèves à terminer. Donc, hier, je suis allée à cet évènement en famille. André avait fait une courte histoire d’un méchant qui a fini par être puni (serait-ce un ex-financier de Enron?) tandis que Savannah avait écrit un charmant recueil de poèmes.

Un évènement qui a embellit mon weekend!

Like every year, our local shopping mall, the Capitola Mall is the host of an important fair: the Student Authors’ Fair. Sponsored by the Santa Cruz Reading Association and the Santa Cruz COE, the fair encourages students to write and illustrate their own books.

The fair’s goal is not to judge or censor any book. Every book entered receives an Award Certificate. I can certify that each book is a labor of love and take several weeks to be completed by the students. So, yesterday, I went to the event with the family. Andre had a short story about a bad guy who ends up being punish (sounds like an Enron executive fairy tale!) while Savannah wrote a series of charming poems.

An event that brighten my weekend!
