Bonne fête la France! / Happy Bastille Day, France!

About two weeks ago, I read in the local newspaper, San Jose Mercury News, an article (http://green.tmcnet.com/news/2010/05/21/4803213.htm) that really upset me. The article was about the exile of Web 2.0 companies to San Francisco.

The article, though well-written, noticed a worrying change among Silicon Valley tech world. Some companies were interviewed for the article, among them was Klout and its CEO, Joe Fernandez. This is an extract from the article that really shocked me:

“Joe Fernandez, the founder and CEO of Klout, says he is looking for people who tend to be outside the married-with-kids suburban ethic -- those who can apply the cultural ferment of urban life to the online world.

“When I think of a company where it's a nine-to-five job, and everyone kind of goes back home to the suburbs with their families and locks themselves away in their houses and does the same thing every night, it doesn't fit with the creativity and innovation that we need," Fernandez said.”

Well, just the fact to admit publicly in a newspaper such thing, not only he should be ashamed but this is a typical case of pure discrimination.

Yes, married people and those with kids spend less time at work but they are fundamentally more complete and interesting people to converse with because… they have a “life” outside work.

I am one of those examples of what I am saying. I obtained a Bachelor degree with honors while raising two kids. Many of my classmates who had a lifestyle highly desirable to Klout were far off from being top students, by the way! Among my peers, I am considered a very interesting and creative person.

All I can say is thumbs down, Mr. Fernandez!

Nouveauté sur iPhone / New App on iPhone

Since the arrival of the iPhone, it is the apps craze. Not only iPhone fans love the numerous apps but programmers and businessmen see a way to get a good source of income and, who knows, strike gold!

A new mobile app came to the market last week. Launched by InSight Mobile, it is a mobile social networking application that helps users to know the people around them. The application automatically detects other InSight users nearby. All you have to do is to gently tap on a photo in order to view a nearby user’s profile and send a message.

Behind InSight Mobile are the two leading brains: Chris Robson and Tim Genske. Both of them have over ten years of mobile messaging and mobile application development experience and worked for LightSurf Technologies. I personally know Tim as he was the webmaster of both our e-commerce sites, Notes and Photos and Photo-cartes.

InSight Mobile is a new app that will allow you to increase your circle of friends.
