Kyrie Robinson

Dans le cadre de mes chroniques du lundi de femmes à succès de la Silicon Valley, je vous présente Kyrie Robinson. Partenaire dans la firme SVPG (Silicon Valley Product Group), Mme Robinson possède la passion de créer des designs internationaux pour ses clients. Elle est surtout connue pour avoir travaillée au sein d’équipe “user experience” pour la compagnie TiVo.

Avant de joindre les rangs de la SVPG, elle a été VP de User Experience à Rearden Commerce et Shutterfly. Elle a été consultante pour les firmes eBay et Zinio. Elle a été une membre-clé au sein de la compagnie Silicon Graphics en créant les stations de travail Iris UI (qui ont gagné un trophée) ainsi que les produits WebForce. Mme Robinson possède un doctorat de l’université Stanford et elle est la co-inventrice de plusieurs inventions pour des designs de produits à TiVo et Shutterfly.

In my tradition to write about successful Silicon Valley women, I am introducing you to Kyrie Robinson. Partner in the firm SVPG (Silicon Valley Product Group), Mrs. Robinson possesses a passion to create international design for her customers. She is especially known for her pioneering work building and leading the user experience team at TiVo.

Prior to joining SVPG, she was the VP of User Experience at Rearden Commerce, and before that, she was at Shutterfly. She has also been a design consultant for eBay and Zinio. She has been a key member at Silicon Graphics working on the award-winning Iris workstation UI. Mrs. Robinson has a Ph.D. from Stanford and she is the co-inventor on multiple patents for product designs at TiVo and Shutterfly.

Bryan Zmijewski

Ceux qui me connaissent savent que j'ai une passion en tout ce qui concerne le dessin industriel. J'ai toujours trouve fascinant les gens qui travaillent dans ce domaine. Une de ces personnes, Bryan Zmijewski, fondateur de ZURB, est un pro dans le domaine.

Originaire du Minnesota, il est débarqué en Californie pour étudier à l'université Stanford où il a reçu son diplôme en design de produit. Par la suite, il est demeuré à l'université pour y enseigner cette matière pendant 10 ans. Il a également travailler pour dessiner des jouets pour la compagnie Skyline Toys, acquérit par la suite par IDEO. Il a démarré trois compagnies, incluant ZURB, laquelle a été fondée en 1998. Durant les 10 dernières années, il a pu aider 75 compagnies (dont Facebook, Yahoo et Zazzle) a démarré via ZURB.

Il est reconnu comme ayant un enthousiasme contagieux et un homme ayant des talents photographiques ainsi que des tendances à exprimer ses émotions via le chant et la danse.

Mais ce qui le rend le plus heureux, c'est de passer du temps avec sa femme et ses trois enfants. Il peut alors redevenir un grand enfant avec eux.

Those who have met me know that I have a passion regarding anything about industrial design. I have always been fascinated about people working in this field. One of those people, Bryan Zmijewski, founder of ZURB, is a pro in this field.

Originally from Minnesota, he ended up in Californie to attend Stanford University where he obtained a degree in product design. Then, he stayed there to teach in the Design Department for 10 years. He also worked to design toys for Skyline Toys, which got eventually acquired by IDEO. He started three companies, including ZURB, which was founded in 1998. During the past 10 years, he was able to help 75 companies (such as Facebook, Yahoo and Zazzle) to start-up via ZURB.

He is recognized as a person who possess a contagious energy and a man with photographic talent as well as someone who has an habit to express his emotions via singing and dancing.

But what is making him the happiest is to spend time with his wife and three kids. It is then that he can become a big kids again.

Une expo bien assise / Sit down for this exhibit

Une chaise est une chaise, me direz-vous? Mais si c’est une chaise dessinée par un designer de renom, elle aura un look et un cachet particulier. À part les différents magazines de dessin industriel, les occasions de voir des chaises au design particulier sont rares.

Ce weekend a lieu le SF20. Cet évènement qui regroupe les grands noms dans le milieu du design est un must-see pour tout les fanas de design. Que ce soit Hostler-Burrows de New York avec leur meubles d’inspiration Scandinavienne, Dragonette de Los Angeles avec ses meubles antiques ou Hedge de San Francisco avec des éléments rares et iconiques, il y en a pour tout les goûts.

Qu’attendez-vous pour remplacer ce vieux divan? Vous trouverez sûrement la perle rare au SF20!

A chair is a chair you would say? But if it is a chair designed by a renowned designer, it will have a special look and unique flair. Besides industrial design magazines, the chances to see chairs with unique design are rare.

This weekend, San Francisco is hosting SF20. This event gathers big names in the design world and is a must-see for design fanatics. Whether it is Hostler-Burrows of New York with their Scandinavian inspired design furnitures, Dragonette of Los Angeles with their vintage furnitures or Hedge of San Francisco with their rare and iconic art elements, there is enough for every taste.

What are you waiting to get rid of that old sofa? You will surely find the perfect find at SF20!
