Une star à Aptos / A Star in Aptos

Il y avait de la fébrilité dans l’air hier à l’école Aptos High School. L’école secondaire, qui a vendue le plus de billets pour le festival de Monte Foundation (festival qui a lieu aujourd’hui), a reçu la visite de nul autre que Marissa Miller, un top modèle qui a posée entre autre pour Sports Illustrated.

Habituellement, les autographes se signent sur des feuilles de papier mais Mme Miller a pu mettre sa signature sur des fronts, chaussures, CDs, t-shirts et des bras. Les concerts seront à partir de 5:30 PM aujourd’hui et le festival se terminera à 21h30 par un feu d’artifice.

Reverra-t-on Marissa Miller après ce weekend? Ryan Peabody, un étudiant qui graduera à la Aptos High School en mai l’espère bien. Il avait inscrit le mot “Prom?” sur son torse en espérant que Mme Miller soit sa compagne de soirée lors de l’évènement annuel.

Qui vivra, verra…

There were lots of excitements in the air at the Aptos High School yesterday. The high school, which sold the most tickets for the Monte Foundation festival (that is happening today), got the surprise visit of top model Marissa Miller, who has posed for the famous Sports Illustrated in the past.

Usually, autographs are signed on sheets but Mrs Miller was able to put her signature on foreheads, shoes, CDs, shirts and arms. The concerts will start at 5:30 PM today and the festival will end with a firework at 9:30.

Will we see Marissa Miller again after this weekend? Ryan Peabody, an Aptos High School senior student hopes so. He had written on his chest the word “Prom?” in the hope that Mrs Miller will be his date for the night at his prom.

Un effet explosif! / An explosive cocktail!

Tout les ans, Santa Cruz a un festival de musique et feux d’artifice. Le Annual Monte Foundation (http://www.monte-foundation.com/) qui vient en aide aux écoles dans le comté de Santa Cruz. Tout les ans, il a y plus de 9 heures de musique de toutes sortes, de la nourriture et évidemment, un beau feu d’artifice pour courroner cette soirée.

Cette année, ce festival se tient le 3 octobre et pour amener cette journée a un effet un peu plus explosif, il sera animé par nul autre que Marisa Miller (http://www.marisamiller.com/). Miller, native d’Aptos, est mieux connue comme une top modèle qui a pose pour plusieurs publications, dont le fameux Sports Illustrated.

Chaque année, le festival amasse près de $300,000.00 pour les écoles. Mon petit doigt me dit que cette année, avec la présence de Marisa Miller, la cagnotte devrait être plus lucrative…

Every year, Santa Cruz has a music and fireworks festival. The Annual Monte Foundation (http://www.monte-foundation.com/) gives back to all the school in the Santa Cruz County. Every year, there is more than 9 years of music of all kind, food and, of course, a nice big fireworks to end this evening.

This year, the festival will be held on October 3rd and to bring this event to a more explosive level, it will be hosted by nonetheless Marissa Miller (http://www.marisamiller.com/). Miller, an Aptos native, is better known as a top model who has posed for different magazines, including the famous Sports Illustrated.

Every year, the festival gathers close to $300,000 for the schools. Something is telling me that this year, with Marisa Miller’s presence, the total amount will be even more…
