Bonne fête André! / Happy Birthday André!

En ce 30 mai, André vient d'avoir 11 ans. Il est encore jeune et c'est avec plaisir qu'il a reçu deux cadeaux qui lui ont fait grandement plaisir: une lampe lava et un sling-shot. Tant qu'il n'envoie pas de roches vers nos chats, je lui ai dit de lancer des roches vers les arbres ou un mur.

Donc, en cette belle journée, je lui souhaite un bon anniversaire!

On this May 30th, André just turned 11 today. He is still young and it is with pleasure that he received two gifts that gave him great joy: a lava lamp and a sling-shot. As long as he doesn't hit our cats, I told him to only throw rocks at trees and walls.

So, on this gorgeous day, I wish my beloved son a Happy Birthday!

En ce 26 mars, je tourne une page de mon existence. J'ai maintenant 44 ans et pour plusieurs raisons, j'ai toujours redoutée cet âge. Intuitivement, si je me rends à 45 ans, je vais entre bonne pour un autre 40 ans.

Je pense que je n'aime pas personnellment le chiffre "4" donc en ayant la double combinaison de "4", j'ai l'impression que cela me portera malchance. En arrière-pensée, j'ai toujours la pensée pour une tante que j'aimais bien et qui est morte du cancer des seins à l'âge de 44 ans, quelques jours après Noël. Est-ce que j'y passerai cette année a cause du cancer? J'espère que mon intuition n'est pas véridique pour une fois.

Une chose est sure est que je vais essayer de bien profiter de ma journée. J'ai eue le malheur de planifier deux rendez-vous et un troisième s'est aligné ces derniers jours. J'aurais toutefois quelques heures en après-midi et en soirée pour faire mon hobby favori: la courte-pointe. Ces jours-ci, je travaille sur une courte-pointe que ma grand-mère a débutée avant de s'éteindre. C'est un travail fort émotif pour moi car je veux faire un travail impeccable, comme elle. L'autre jour, quand des expertes en courte-pointe me conseillait comment terminée le travail de ma grand-mère, j'ai eue toute une fierté. Elles m'ont dit que ma grand-mère avait beaucoup de talent.

Si j'avais un souhait à faire en cette journée, j'aimerais faire revenir ma grand-mère en vie pour faire une heure de courte-pointe avec elle. J'aimerai également avoir mon grand-père avec moi et en echange de la mousse à l'érable, je lui demanderai de me construire un petit "rack" pour faire ma courte-pointe à la main. Ce serait vraiment un beau cadeau. Comme ce n'est pas possible, tout les deux seront seulement dans mes pensées.

Mais, un jour, je sais que je pourrais passer toutes les heures que je désire avec eux à faire de la courte-pointe et à jaser. Je n'aurais plus à faire un souhait irréalisable...

On this March 26th, I am turning a page of my existence. I am now 44 and for many reasons, I always been in fear of this age. By intuition, if I can turn 45, I know I will be fine to live for another 40 years.

I think I just don't like the number "4" in general so by having a double combination of "4", I have the impression that it will bring me bad luck. In my subconscious, I always think of a beloved aunt who died at the young age of 44 of breast cancer, a few days after Christmas. Will I also die at the age of 44 because of the cancer? I hope my intuition is wrong, for once.

One thing is sure is that I will truly enjoy my day, today. I made the mistake to plan two meetings a few weeks ago and a third appointment earlier this weekend. I will have a few free hours this afternoon as well as tonight to do my favorite hobby: quilting. These days, I am working to finish one of my grandmother's unfinished quilt. It is a very emotional process for me because I want to do a stellar job. The other day, I showed all her unfinished quilts to a quilting expert group. I was so proud that day. Those ladies said that my grandmother was a fine quilter with a huge talent.

If I had to make a wish today, I would love to bring my grandmother alive for one hour to do quilting with me. I would also bring my grandfather. In exchange of some maple syrup mousse, I would ask him to built me a hand quilt frame. It would surely be a lovely gift. Because it is not possible, both of them will be in my thought.

But, one day, I know that will be able to spend all the time I want with them to do quilting and chatting. I won't have to make an unrealistic wish...

On a tous un petit trésor dans sa vie et l’un de mes miens s’appelle André. C’est mon fils et il a maintenant 10 ans en ce 30 mai. Il me semble que je le revoie encore tout petit avec une grosse bedaine et des joues d’écureuil.

J’aurais voulu avoir un fils plus beau et meilleur et cela n’aurait jamais été possible. André est un petit garçon intelligent qui a un côté taquin que tout le monde adore. Il aime le plein-air, les Legos et le travail qui requiert des outils tel que la balayeuse, le souffle-feuilles et la vadrouille. L’été dernier, il a découvert une nouvelle passion: laver les vitres avec un vrai équipement.

Bien sûr, tout travail ne lui plait pas toujours: il déteste ranger sa chambre. Fier de rouler les yeux devant un plat de poisson, il ne se fera pas arracher le bras pour un morceau de pizza ou du macaroni au fromage.

We all have a little treasure in our life and one of mines is called André. It is my son and he is now 10 on this May 30th. It seems that I can still see him all small with his big belly and fat cheeks.

Even if I would have wished to have a son cuter and better, it wouldn’t have been possible. Andre is a smart boy with a witty personality that everybody cracks for. He loves the outdoor, Legos and work that involves tools such the vacuum, the leaf blower and the mop. Last summer, he discovered a new passion: window-washing with real tools.

Of course, not all work pleases him: he hates to pick up his room. Proud to roll his eyes in front of a fish dish, you won’t twist his arm to eat pizza or macaroni and cheese.

Les joies de célébrer un dixième anniversaire! Il me semble que c'était hier que j'ai eue 10 ans. Ce weekend dernier, c'était au tour de mon plus jeune, mn fils, à célébrer cet anniversaire si spécial.

Il a bien aime sa fête, tout spécialement le gâteau. Yum!

À part ca, il n'y a pas grand chose de prévue! Je me souhaite une année de santé et de bonheur! Il me semble que la maladie a assez durée (5 ans déjà) et qu'un bonheur familial et professionel ne serait pas trop demandé.

It is a big day today and fortunately this year, my birthday is falling on a Saturday! I know that I will spend two hours in my knitting class and will start a big project today: my first cardigan!

Besides this, there is not much planned! I am wishing myself a healthy year filled with happiness! It seems I have been sick for too long (5 years already) and a family and profesionnal hapiness wouldn't be too much to ask.

Il travaille toujours dans le domaine de la construction. Papa de deux garçons, Charles (dont je suis la marraine) et Elliot, né en décembre dernier, le travail le tient occupe la majorité du temps. Quand il a du temps libres, il le consacre beaucoup au sport.

Il me semble que c'était hier qu'il était tout petit dans mes bras. Mon petit garçon, André (a.k.a "Monsieur"), a officiellement 9 ans aujourd'hui! Comme son anniversaire tombe toujours durant le long congé de la fête du souvenir américaine, nous avons donc célébré sa fête le weekend dernier.

Le thème du party: Nurf gun! Une bonne bataille entre deux équipes dans la forêt a égayé nos joyeux lurons. Une fête avec grand succès!

It seems it was only yesterday that he was all little in my arms. My little boy, André (alias "Monsieur"), is officially turning 9 today! Because his birthday always fall during the Memorial Day weekend, we celebrated his special day last weekend.

The word of the day was Nurf gun! A good battle between two teams in the nearby forest had brought the guests high energy and their spirit up. A very successful birthday party!

I was supposed to be born on this day but the nature has made it so I waited 11 extra days to be born. However, March 15th is still an important date to my calendar because today, it is my mom's birthday!

I wanted to tell her that even though I am really busy and that I live in California, that I often think of her and I know I am really lucky to have her alive with us on earth.

Bonne fête “petit” frère! / Happy birthday “little” brother

Aujourd’hui, mon frère Martin a un anniversaire important: il a 40 ans! Comme il n’est pas avec moi (il vit au Canada), je tiens à lui rendre hommage en ce grand jour.

Jamais je n’ai enviée les enfants uniques car j’ai toujours été fière d’avoir un frère. J’aurais même aimée être jumelle avec lui. Même quand nous étions petits, il prenait toujours ma défense quand les autres m’attaquaient. Il a été mon compagnon de jeu et nous avons tellement fait des mauvais coups quand nous étions petit. Quand on se rencontre et on se rappelle des coups pendables qu’on faisait pour faire fâcher ma mère, c’est un des plus grands plaisirs dans la vie. Il fait bon de rire avec lui. Si je n’avais pas mon frère, je n’aurais personne d’aussi complice pour rire des bons vieux jours.

En ce 6 février, je lui souhaite un bon 40ème anniversaire! Je suis fière de toi, Martin!

Today, my brother Martin has an important birthday: he is turning 40! Because he is not with me (he lives in Canada), I wanted to honor him via my blog.

I have never envied people who were only child because I am proud to have a brother. I would have loved to be his twin sister. Even when we were little. he always took my defense when others were mean to me. He was my play companion and we did so many bad tricks together when we were younger. When we meet and remember those years where we would have a delightful pleasure to make my mom angry, it is one of my best pleasures in life. It is good to laugh with him. If I didn’t have my brother, I wouldn’t have an accomplice to laugh about the good old days.
