Depuis que je demeure à Santa Cruz, j’ai toujours été étonnée de voir le talent artistique qui émerge de ma région. Souvent, ce sont des personnes adultes qui démontrent publiquement leur talent. Mais, pour avoir enseignée l’art dans une école primaire par le passé, je peux vous dire qu’il y a même du talent chez les jeunes.
Une de ces jeunes est Hanna Seltz, étudiante à la Georgiana Bruce Kirby Preparatory School. Il y a quelques temps, elle a remportée le premier prix pour la 29ème édition annuelle du concours d’art congressionnel. Sa peinture, “Buejuv, Zanzibar”, lui a fait méritée une bourse de $1500 pour étudier à la Savannah College or Art and Design et deux billets aller-retour pour Washington, DC ou sera présentée une ceremonie en l’honneur d’Hanna.

Since I live in Santa Cruz, I have always been amazed to see the emerging artistic talent from my region. Often, we hear about adults who are exhibiting their art. But, after teaching years in an elementary school, I can tell you that young people have artistic talent also.
One of those young people is Hanna Seltz, a Georgiana Bruce Kirby Preparatory School student. A little while ago, she won the first prize at the 29th Annual Congressional Art Competition. Her painting, “Buejuv, Zanzibar”, made her win a $1,500 renewable scholarship from the Savannah College of Art and Design and two round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C., to attend a ceremony to honor her.
