Petits fours? Oui! Cadeaux enveloppés dans du papier emballage pastel? Oui! Grosse bédaine? Oui, mais pour une personne seulement. Ah non, ce n’était pas un party de bébé pour moi mais bien pour une amie hier matin.
Mon amie Laiya Rudermann, que je connais depuis une dizaine d’années, est enceinte de son quatrième enfant! Eh oui, les grosses familles à Santa Cruz, ça existe encore. La dame qui nous recevait, Ady, a elle-même 5 enfants. C’etait a peine à y croire en voyant la maison où elle demeure: des meubles antiques, aucun morceau de peinture arraché sur les murs et pas d’embarras nulle part dans la maison. Je me demande si elle met ses enfants en cage pour avoir une maison si propre!
Cela m’a fait plaisir de revoir Laiya que je n’avais pas vue depuis plusieurs années. Par la même occasion, mon autre amie, Katie, était au même endroit. Saviez-vous que j’ai rencontrée Laiya et Katie dans un cours de natation pré-natal à l’été 1999? Eh oui, le temps passe bien vite.
Nous avons bien hâte de voir le minois du bébé #4 de Laiya dans quelques semaines.

Small bites? Yes! Gifts wrapped in pastel colored paper? Yes? Big belly? Yes, but only for one person. Well no, it was not a baby shower for me but for a friend of mine yesterday morning.
My friend Laiya Rudermann, that I met 10 years ago, is pregnant with her fourth child. Well yes, there are still big families in Santa Cruz. The party’s hostess, Ady, has 5 children apparently. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the mansion she lives in: antique furnitures, no paint chipped off the walls and no mess to be seen anywhere in the house. I am wondering if she puts her kids in a cage to have such a spotless house!
It was a great joy to see Laiya again. I haven’t seen her in years. At the same time, I was able to see my other friend, Katie, who was also invited to the party. Did you know that I met both of them at a prenatal swimming class in the summer of 1999? Well yes, time flies by quickly.
We can’t wait to see this cute little baby come into this world in a few weeks!
