El Matador
L’automne est à nos portes mais n’empêche que la belle température est encore présente. C’est une occasion d’aller à la plage et de profiter des derniers rayons de soleil. Une des plus belles plages que l’on peut trouver dans le sud de la Californie est sûrement El Matador, à Santa Monica.
Cette plage n’est accessible par un petit sentier, au bas d’une falaise. Endroit de prédilection pour les photographes, ceux-ci n’hésitent pas de photographier les surfers et nageurs qui y pullulent. De multiples cavernes sont également presente pour le plaisir des moins grands.
Un endroit de prédilection pour passer un mémorable moment...

Fall is at our doors but nothing is stopping us to enjoy the nice weather that is still present. It is a great opportunity to go to the beach and enjoy the last warm sunrays. One of the most beautiful beaches that one can find in southern California is surely El Matador, in Santa Monica.
This beach is only accessible by a small trail, at the bottom of a cliff. Favorite spot for photographers, they don’t hesitate to take multiple photos of surfers and swimmers who fill the place. Multiple caves are also present for the pleasure of the little ones.
A great spot to spend memorable moments…

Superkid Triathlon
Qui a dit qu’il fallait être un adulte pour compétitioner dans des longues courses? Le département des Parcs de la ville de Santa Cruz ainsi que SHARP organise un évènement amusant pour toute la famille, le Superkid Triathlon, et offre une chance aux enfants d’avoir le goût de faire un triathlon. Les participants doivent nager, faire de la bicyclette et courir afin de se rendre au fil d’arrivée.
Ceux-ci se mériteront une médaille, un t-shirt, un casque de nageur, un billet pour un triage, une bouteille d’eau et d’autres petits cadeaux des commanditaires.
C’est un rendez-vous ce dimanche 9 octobre pour cet évènement familial.

Hetch Hetchy
Un site enchanteur à découvrir pour les amoureux du parc national de Yosemite, le Hetch Hetchy Valley, est un endroit encore caché de la population.
Décrit par John Muir comme étant un des rares et précieux temple de montagnes de la nature, cette vallée est parsemée d’anciens arbres où pullulent les ours et oiseaux divers. Hetch Hetchy est considéré comme un des plus uniques écosystèmes dans le monde. Endroit protégé par le Yosemite National Park, John Muir s’est longtemps battu pour préserver cet endroit iconique. Aujourd’hui, l’association Restore Hetch Hetchy s’occupe de préserver cette partie d’un monument national.
Si vous êtes de passage en Californie, je vous invite à découvrir le Yosemite National Park ainsi que le Hetch Hetchy.

Rockchiq
Depuis les quatorzes dernières années, une jeune designer fait son nom dans le monde de la mode en Californie. Indu Arora, originalement de l’Inde, faisait des études en médecine lorsqu’elle a décidée, en 1998, de faire un virage complet pour sa carrière. Passer de la médecine à la mode, il fallait le faire!
Depuis son tout jeune âge, elle dessine et peint. Elle a également appris à coudre sous la supervision de sa mère. Son goût de l’art était inné mais c’est surtout sa passion pour l’émission “Sex and the City” qui l’a encouragé à poursuivre son rêve: celui de fabriquer des vêtements prêt- à -porter pour femme qui ont une influence urbaine et contemporaine. Ses designs sont très colorés et s’inspirent de gratte-ciels et sculptures, d’où le look audacieux.
Le look Rockchiq, c’est pour celles qui osent!

Her designs are very colorful and have been inspired by buildings and sculptures, where the daring effect comes from.

S’inspirant de sa ville d’adoption pour créer ses toiles, Jonathan Jungsuk Ahn, un artiste koreen qui a étudie notamment à Paris pour ensuite faire une maîtrise en art à San Francisco.
Il maitrise beaucoup de techniques artistique tel que l’huile et l’acrylique, le charbon, le crayon et la sculpture. Cet artiste est principalement reconnu pour ses paysages typiques de San Francisco avec des fonds pluvieux. Il travaille souvent à partir de photos mais également de modèles vivants.
Ses oeuvres d’art ont été publiés dans plusieurs magazines nationaux. Il fait également partit de quelques expositions à travers la Californie.
