Being retired & Olympian?

Like we say, there is no age to do sport. There is also no age requirement to compete at the Olympics. You are 50 or more? Love sports? What are you waiting for?
Saturday, and for the next two weeks, more then 10,000 athletes of 50 and more will be in Palo Alto in California to show who is the strongest in the 2009 Summer National Senior Games (www.2009seniorgames.org) which will gather 25 sports and 18 medals. It is not the age that matters in life. Charles Gillum, a 55 years old ear doctor, finished second in the triathlon event at the 2007 Games in Louisville. He loves competition and wants to win the top spot this year. “When I’m racing, I’m not 55,” he said. “I’m just racing.”
It already gives me hope to take part of such event in 9 years!

Courir pour une bonne cause / Run for a good cause

To your eyes, it seems impossible to imagine a 7 years-old girl who is heavily handicapped physically and mentally that can run and ride bicycle. On the other hand, for Mary McAuley of Hendersonville, nothing can’t stop her.
Her father, Tommy McAuley, is a triathlete and bring his daughter to every competition he enters. Whether it is with the help of special bicycle trailer, an inflatable raft or in her father’s arms, Mary does the triathlon from start to end.
All the money raised during each race come to help to purchase equipment for families with handicapped children interested to run triathlon.
