Pain d’épice grand format / Giant Gingerbread House

À chaque année, je fais une petite maison de pain d’épice avec les enfants. Habituellement, on se procure le kit au magasin local et on se réserve un après-midi de fin de semaine pour faire notre projet. Comme nous ne faisons qu’une maison et qu’il y a deux enfants, la chicane prends souvent dans la cabane, comme on dit!

Au début, les enfants étaient content du kit mais avec les années, mon fils André a eu des idées de grandeurs en trouvant des photos de maisons ou plutôt de palaces fait uniquement de pain d’épice. Pour faire ce genre de construction, il me faudrait litérallement que je délaisse mon emploi pendant un mois ou deux.

Each year, I make a small gingerbread house with the kids. Usually, I buy the kit in a local store and we make the project in one afternoon. Because I only make one house and I have two kids, there are often bickering during the craft project.

At the beginning, when the kids were young, they were perfectly happy with the kit in the box. However, over the years, Andre had bigger ideas on how the house could become bigger and nicer. He found online photos of grandiose gingerbread structures and asked me if we could do the same. Of course… Well, no! To do this kind of project, I would have to take a leave of absence from my job for one or two months.
