“Je fais cet art pour dissoudre les frontières entre l’endroit où l’art a été créé et l’espace où il est exposé”, nous dit l’artiste natif de la Caroline du Sud. Bref, comme quoi on peut créer un objet d’art à partir de rien.

To keep ahead of Jonathan Brilliant, a SJSU MFA graduate of the MFA in Spatial Art ’07, you would have to drink a whole lot of café latte. Why? Well, Jonathan creates his art, Have Sticks, with the little wooden sticks that is used to mix your favorite warm liquid purchase at your local coffee shop.
For the past 18 months, his art has been seen by thousands of people in 13 galleries, in three countries and on two continents. No glue required to hold his grand format art: only tension keeps it together.
“I do this art to dissolve the boundary between the place where art is created and the place where it is displayed”, explained the South Carolina native artist. Well, this is a fine example that demonstrates that we can create art with about anything.
