Par le passé, d’autres communautés ont développées l’idée et cela s’est courronné par un grand succès. Telle que la ville d’Ithaca, dans le nord de l’État de New York, qui a plus de 100K en argent locale en circulation.
Avec les quelques centaines de dollars établis dans la ville de North Fork, ils n’en sont qu’à leur debut. Un homme d’affaire de la ville, Josh Freeman, a son mot à dire sur la création de cette monnaie.
“Dans les petits villages, vous avez tendance à vous préoccuper des autres,” dit-il. “Avec les changements dans l’économie, le plus qu’on supporte chacun dans une direction positive, meilleure sera la qualité de vie de tout le monde.”

A small town near Yosemite, North Fork, decided to help the local economy by having is own local currency. Even though some people love the idea, others tend to prefer to stick with green money.
In the past, other communities developed the same idea and it ended up being a big success. Such as the city of Ithaca, in upstate New York, that created more than 100K in local currency.
With only a few hundreds of dollars in circulation in the town of North Fork, they are only at their beginning. A business man, Josh Freeman, has its word to say about the initiative of this local currency.
"In a small town, you tend to look out for each other," he said. "With the changes in economy, the more we support each other in positive ways, the better the quality of life is for everyone."
