It exists in Santa Cruz an organization that cares about animals’ comfort. It is not all animals that have the opportunity to offer a loving home. Many animals are in shelters and don’t have a nice blanket to sleep on.
Annie’s Blankets, a Santa Cruz non-profit organization, is a service that collects towels and blankets for animal shelters. Founded in 2006, the organization has collected more than 6,000 blankets and towels so far. Many animal shelters depend on Annie’s Blankets. But it is especially donations from the public that make a change for animals; now, they can sleep tight on a comfortable setting.
Santa Cruz is proud to have such organization in its community.

We see art everywhere in the world and it is often in the nature that artists are the most inspired. It is the case for Joseph Rossano, an artist who likes to play with what Mother Nature has to offer.
Spatial artist himself, he gets inspired by animals that live in ecosystems threatenbed by human impact. He works with different medias and we find his work-of-art inside as well as outside.
”Throughout my career, I have focused on the interdependence of the natural world to create haunting images of animals who, like us, rely on our primeval forests for their existence,“ comments Rossano. ”I choose to use glass as a medium because, like our environment, glass is transparent, fragile and reflective—transparent in that it hides nothing, fragile in that once damaged it may never be repaired, and reflective of how we have impacted it.“

Voleurs sans coeur / Robbers without a heart

A Los Angeles couple robbers in their twenties were caught on surveillance video after they stole a recumbent tricycle belonging to Noelle Chalmers, a woman who has multiple sclerosis. The robbers also wanted to steal Chalmers’ husband but his bike had a better lock.
It is the police who recognize one of the two suspects, the man, on the video because he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The other robber, a woman, is still at large. The tricycle was found in one piece and given back to her owner.
Chalmers had only kind words to say to the police: “Thank you so much. I can’t say enough for your help.”

Telefund Inc.
----------------------------------------
Honestly, how many of you receive frequent calls from Telefund Inc.? I am really tired of them. I registered myself on the “Do Not Call” list but still, they call me once or twice a day. Sometimes even late at night…
When I checked on the web, I read they are a company to raise funds for political parties. We are not enough invaded by political calls during official campaigns that now, Telefund Inc. is making up the gap in between each campaign. They are definitely pesty!
I know I am not the only one who complained about them. I found a list on the web that tells it all about them.
Please, stop calling me! I can’t bear you anymore!

Pas un poisson d’avril! / Not an April Fool!
-------------------------------------------
When we think of April first, we automatically think of April’s Fool Day. My dad used to do so many tricks on me when I was young and I always got mad about it because, every year, I realized it was an April’s Fool Day.
Speaking of that and the ever-tradition of fish, our subject of the day, I am introducing you to a California artist, Andrew Jensen. His specialty is to do fish paintings. This art, known as gyotaku, is originally from Japan and exists for the past hundred years. Nowadays, fish paintings are popular among fishermen because it apparently bring good luck.
Gyotaku can be done two ways: direct and indirect. Jensen is using the direct method, meaning that he will paint directly on the fish, then he will carefully press on the fish onto acid-free paper or fabric, and when lifted, a detailed mirror-image fish print is revealed.
Jensen admits that it is difficult to paint a fish with its natural colors. Besides doing a lot of research on colors, he admits that he has a lot of pleasure to use a variety of natural fiber papers.
Besides being a die-hard fisherman, he has lot of pleasure to combine his favorite sport with the art of gyotaku.
