S’inspirer de la vie agricole / Inspired by agricultural life

Après vécu son enfance sur la ferme de ses grand-parents, Chris Beck, une résidente de Los Altos en Californie, n’avait d’autres choix que d’être inspiré par les nombreux objets et machineries qui se trouvaient sur la propriété familiale.

Après une longue carrière comme graphiste, elle a commencée à peindre il y a douze ans. Sa source d’inspiration: les divers objets de la ferme familiale de son enfance, évidemment! Malgré le fait qu’elle aime essayer divers medium, elle favorise habituellement l’aquarelle transparente. Elle passe entre 60 et 80 heures sur chaque peinture. After having spent her childhood on her grandparents’ farm, Chris Beck, a Los Altos, California resident, didn’t have much choice than being inspired by the numerous objects and machineries that were on the family property.

After a long career as a graphic designer, she started painting twelve years ago. Her inspiration: the various objects on the family farm, of course! Despite the fact that she likes to try different medium, she usually favors transparent watercolor. She spents between 60 and 80 hours on each painting. Expo agricole / Agricultural Fair

C’est sûrement l’une des premières années depuis que les enfants sont nés que je ne vais pas à l’expo agricole de Santa Cruz avec eux. Je pensais être plus sur le piton, comme on dit, vers le weekend mais je vais passer mon tour cette année.

Qu’importe, j’invite les autres, ceux qui n’ont pas de bobo à guérir, à visiter cette exposition. Cette foire agricole, la 114ème, rassemble toujours les mêmes éléments: des animaux de ferme, un parc d’attraction, des encans, et la fameuse nourriture typiquement grasse. Pour les personnes à la diète, amenez-vous un lunch!

It is surely one of the first years since the kids are born that I am not going to the Santa Cruz County Fair with them. I thought to be all right to go this weekend, but it is not gonna happen for me this year.

Whatever, I am inviting the others who don’t have some sore spots to heal to come to the exhibit. This agricultural fair, the 114th, always have the same elements: farm animals, rides, auctions, and the typical greasy fair food. For people on diet, bring your own lunch!
