Bloc du mois / Block of the month

Pour un deuxième mois consécutif, je me suis inscrite au bloc du mois pour l’association de courte-pointe. Cette fois, c’etait un mini “log cabin” qui ne m’a pris que 2 heures à faire en tout.

Le thème était la romance du printemps et une heureuse gagnante aura tout les blocs lors de la prochaine rencontre de l’association. Comme c’est ma deuxième fois comme participante, je n’ai pas droit de gagner les blocs. Il me faudra attendre encore quelques mois pour gagner.

For a second consecutive month, I signed upfor the block of the month for the Quilt Guild Association. This time it was a mini "log cabin" which only took me 2 hours to complete.

The theme was Spring Romance and one lucky winner will take all the blocks home at the next association’s. Since this is my second time as a participant, I am not entitled to win the blocks. I'll have to wait another few months to win.

Il y a un mois, j'ai joint la Pajaro Valley Quilt Association, qui regroupe tout les fans de courte-pointes de la grande région de Santa Cruz. La semaine dernière avait lieu leur réunion mensuel et ce fut ma première visite à cette rencontre. J'ai décidée de joindre également pour la première fois leur "Block of the Month" où des artistes sont invités à faire un bloc qui fera partie d'une courte-pointe. Une participante gagnera tout les blocs lors d'un tirage. Toutefois, il faut avoir participée 6 fois avant d'avoir la chance de gagner.

A month ago, I joined the Pajaro Valley Quilt Association that reaches all the quilt fans from the Santa Cruz area. Last week was their monthly meeting and it was my first visit to their guild. I also decided to join for the first time their "Block of the Month" where artists are invited to create a quilt block. All the names are put into a drawing and a lucky winner gets all the blocks. You have to have created 6 blocks before you are entered into the drawing.

L'artiste que je vous présente cette semaine est une découverte d'une conférence de courte-pointe que j'ai assistée la semaine dernière. Linda Schmidt est une artiste qui a reçue plusieurs honneurs pour ses travaux avec les tissus.

Originaire du Minnesota, elle a débutée sa carrière a un très jeune âge. Elle a commencée à soumettre ses courte-pointes à des expositions agricoles locales puis vers d'autres expositions un peu plus d'envergure. Avec toutes les années d'expérience derrière elle, Linda enseigne maintenant à plusieurs endroits dont la Quilt University.

Je me suis inscrite à l'un de ses cours qui débute justement demain. J'ai bien hâte de découvrir ses mille et un secrets pour faire de si belles courte-pointes!

The artist that I am presenting you this week is a gem I discovered during the last local Quilt Exhibit last week. Linda Schmidt is an award-winning artist recognized for her prized quilts.

Originally from Minnesota, she started her career very young. She submitted handmade quilts to local Agricultural Exhibits and eventually toward more important quilt exhibitions. With all the years of experience behind her, Linda also teaches at different sites including the Quilt University.

I registered to one of her classes that is starting tomorrow. I can't wait to discover her many secrets to be so talented!

Le weekend dernier, je suis allée à la 33ème exposition annuelle des courte-pointes de la Pajaro Valley Quilt Association qui mettait en vedette plus de 300 courte-pointes, une parade de mode et plusieurs autres activités.

Je partage avec vous des photos de l'évènement qui mettait en vedette des artistes de tous âge, y compris des enfants de 5 ans. Il y a vraiment du talent à tout âge...

Last weekend, I went to the Pajaro Valley Quilt Association's 33rd annual Quilt Show featuring more than 300 quilts, a fashion show and many other activities.

I am sharing with you some photos of the event that introduced work of people of all ages, including some of children as young as 5 years old. There is talent at all ages...
