Pacific Collegiate Art Show

Jeudi soir avait lieu le vernissage des étudiants en art de l'école secondaire Pacific Collegiate dont ma fille Savannah est sur la liste d'attente pour la 7ème année l'an prochain. J'ai été impressionnée par le talent de ces jeunes et je partage avec vous les photos des meilleurs oeuvres de nos jeunes artistes de la région de Santa Cruz:

Thursday night was the Art Show of the Pacific Collegiate School where my daughter is on the waiting list for next year's 7th grade. I was impressed by the talent of those youths and I am sharing with you photos of the best in the show from these young Santa Cruz artist:

Top 5!

Une moitié de bonne nouvelle: en une semaine et demi, on est passé de la position 8 à la position 5. Je vous avais parlée de la fameuse loterie de Pacific Collegiate il y a quelques semaines et la déception de ne pas avoir eu un numéro gagnant. Eh bien, mardi dernier, j'ai reçue un courriel me disant que Savannah était maintenant parmi les top 5 étudiants sur la liste d'attente. Pour ce privilège, elle a pue avoir un test d'admission samedi dernier et aujourd'hui, elle passe la journée avec une étudiante de Pacific Collegiate.

On se croise toujours les doigts à savoir si elle aura un spot en août. On espère bien fort...

Half of a good news now: within a week and a half, we went from being number 8 to number 5. I told you of the famous Pacific Collegiate lottery a few weeks ago and I was deeply disappointed that Savannah didn't make the cut as a winning number. Well, last Tuesday, I got an email saying that now, Savannah is amongst the top 5 students on the waiting list. For this privilege, she was able to go through some assessment tests last Saturday and today, she will shadow a Pacific Collegiate student.

We are still crossing our fingers to see if she will get a spot by mid-August. We are really hoping for it...

Numéro 8 / Number 8

Eh bien, la chance n'était pas avec Savannah jeudi. Son numéro pour la loterie de la Pacific Collegiate School n'a pas été choisi mais elle est sur la liste d'attente. Elle est la huitième sur la liste d'attente. On m'a dit que c'était un bon endroit et qu'elle avait quand même une chance d'être admise.

Est-ce que la réceptionniste dit vrai? L'avenir le dira. J'ai une amie dont son fils était numéro 15 sur la liste d'attente et elle a reçue un appel en août pour un spot. Donc, jusqu'à la fin août, on gardera espoir, comme on dit...

Well, luck wasn't with Savannah last Thursday. Her number for the Pacific Collegiate School lottery wasn't picked but she is on the waiting list. She is number 8 on the waiting list. I've been told by the school receptionist that it is a good place to be and she has a chance to be admitted.

Is the receptionist telling me the truth? The future will tell. I have a friend whose son was number 15 on the waiting list and she got a call in August for a spot. So, until late August, we will keep hope...

Loterie! / Lottery!

C'est aujourd'hui le grand jour de la loterie PCS et nous saurons si Savannah aura un spot à l'école secondaire Pacific Collegiate School. On nous a donné le numero 187 et nous verrons si elle sortira gagnante.

Le tirage aura lieu à 16h00, PST. Bonne chance à nous!

It is today the big day of the PCS Lottery and we will see if Savannah will get a spot for next school year at Pacific Collegiate School. We were given the number 187 and we will see if she will be a winner.

Loterie ouverte! / Opened Lottery

C'est aujourd'hui que se tenait le premier meeting obligatoire pour tout étudiant interessé à étudier l'an prochain en secondaire 1 à l'école Pacific Collegiate School.

Cette école, une des meilleures écoles secondaires des USA, a 88 places ouvertes pour tout nouveau étudiant. Qu'on applique le premier jour ou le dernier jour avant la loterie, c'est par loterie numérique qu'on a une chance d'avoir un spot à l'école.

Ce matin, il y avait un meeting obligatoire pour tout élève interessé par l'école. Donc, nous avons fait notre béa et il s'agit d'attendre jusqu'au 23 février pour savoir si Savannah pourra étudier à cette école l'an prochain.

It is today that was the first mandatory meeting for any student interested in studying next year at the middle/high school Pacific Collegiate.

This charter school, one of the best in USA, has 88 open spots for any 7th grade student. Whether we apply the first or last day before the lottery, it is by numerical lottery that a student can win a spot at the school.

This morning, there was a mandatory meeting for any new student interested by this school. So, we did it and we will have to wait until February 23rd to see if Savannah got a spot to study there next year.
