This morning, we had a tsunami taste, an after-taste of the Japan earthquake. We estimate that between 30 and 40 boats were damaged and the damage estimation is about $15M.

Police authorities has closed the area to the public for now.

I went by the Yacht Harbor earlier to look at the damages and I included some photos and a video underneath. All I can tell you: it is the subject of conversation of the day in our area!

Après-courant du Chili / After waves from Chile

It is with surprise that when I came home yesterday that there has been an 8.8 earthquake in Chili yesterday morning. I called, without success, a friend of mine who is Chilean to see if his relatives and friends were OK back in Chile.

With this earthquake, many countries were on a tsunami alert. Hawaii and then Japan were on alert. Many California beaches, including the ones in San Mateo and Monterey, were closed this afternoon due to possible tsunami. People were encouraged to stay out of the water. We expected 1 to 3 feet waves. At Santa Monicas, there were only little damages to the beaches.

It is funny but I believe there have been too many earthquakes lately…
