Un crayon hors de l’ordinaire / An out-of-the-ordinary pen

On connait les téléphones et tablettes “smart” et les gens en sont friands. Il s’agit de se rendre à un évènement sportif et on voit des gens de tout les âges qui ont ces nouveaux jouets. La compagnie Livescribe y a vue un nouveau terrain de jeu en offrant un crayon utilisant un papier spécial où l’on peut enregistrer vocalement des notes.

L’écoute se fait par une simple petite tape sur le pad à un endroit précis où les notes ont ete écrites. Depuis deux ans, Livescribe a vendu plus de 500,000 de ses crayons et ont récemment reçu un nouvel investissement de 39$ millions. Malgré le fait que la majorité de leur clientèle sont des gens d’affaires ou des étudiants, beaucoup d’églises utilisent les crayons Livescribe pour transmettre leur messes à un plus grand nombre de fidèles.

We know the smart phones and tablets and people are just going gaga over them. Only a quick browse at the people surrounding you at a sport event to see that people of all ages love these new toys. Livescribe saw an opportunity and they conceived a new pen that allows, using a special paper, to record vocally notes.

The notes listening is done by a simple tap on the pad at a precise place where the notes were written. Since two years, Livescribe sold more than 500,000 pens and recently secured a $39 million investment. Despite the fact that the majority of the clientele are businessman and students, many clergy use the Livescribe pen to pencast their mass to a bigger audience.

L’art de crayonner / The Art of Penciling

Combien de fois le professeur vous a-t-il dit de ne pas mettre un crayon dans votre bouche quand vous étiez petit? De ne pas jouer avec votre crayon à la mine? L’artiste Dalton Ghetti n’a sûrement pas dûe écouter beaucoup son prof dans le temps.

Sa passion: tailler la mine de ses crayons sous la forme de différents objets. Il sculpte des crayons et les exposent dans des musées à travers le monde. Le jour où son exposition viendra dans la région de San Francisco, je ne manquerai pas d’y faire un tour.

Des crayons qui valent la peine d’être admiré!

How many times the teacher told you to not put your pencils in your mouth when you were small? To not play around with your pencil? Artist Dalton Ghetti surely didn’t listen to his teacher in the past.

His passion: sharpen the lead of his pencils into work-of-art that represent objects of all kind. He sculpts his pencils and exhibit them in different museums around the world. The day his exhibit will come in the San Francisco Bay Area, I won’t miss my chance to take a look at it.
