J’en veux une, S.V.P.! / I want one, please!

Demandez à n’importe qui dans la Silicon Valley qui est un avide du monde automobile et tous vous diront qu’ils rêvent un jour d’être l’heureux propriétaire d’une Tesla Roadster. Et je fais partie de ce lot! Conduisant moi-même une belle auto sport, j’ai salivée en voyant la Tesla. Qui aurait cru qu’un auto électrique pouvait avoir un tel cachet! Avec un prix de départ de 109,000$, ce n’est pas donne à tous de posséder ce genre d’automobile.

Aujourd’hui, ce sera le grand jour pour Tesla: ils offriront des parts de la compagnie (12%) avec comme espoir d’amasser la somme de $178 million. Cette décision est venue pour garder le rêve du fondateur Elon Musk en vie. Même si la compagnie a réussie son pari avec une superbe auto, les gens de l’industrie automobile mettent en garde les potentials investisseurs: construire un auto est une chose mais une compagnie qui construisent plusieurs autos en est une autre.

L’argent que Tesla amassera servira à construire leur prochain modèle automobile, le Model S, une sedan électrique avec prix de détail de 54,400$. À part le fait qu’Elon Musk a un rêve de fabriquer des autos électriques, ce que j’admire le plus chez Tesla est le fait qu’ils font travailler plusieurs gens de l’industrie automobile, industrie qui a été durement touchée dans les dernières années.

En attendant d’avoir assez de sous pour m’acheter une belle Tesla, je vais continuer à rêver au jour où je pourrais rouler avec une.

Ask anybody in the Silicon Valley who loves car and everyone will tell you that they all dream to be the happy owner of a Tesla Roadster. And I am one of them! Being the owner of a nice sport car, my mouth was watering when I saw the Tesla. Who would have guessed that an electric car would have such a sexy look! With a starting price at $109,000, it is not everyone who can own such car.

Today, it will be the big day for Tesla. The company’s initial public offering is selling a 12% stake with the hope to raise $178 million. This decision came to keep founder Elon Musk’s dream alive. Even though the company succeeded its bet by building a superb automobile, car industry people are warning potential investors: building a car is one thing but it is another thing to build a car company from the ground.

The money that Tesla will raise will help building the Model S, a $54,400 electric seden. Besides the fact Elon Musk dreamt to build electric cars, what I admire most about Tesla is the fact that they are giving jobs to car industry workers, an industry particularly affected by our weak economy.

Until I gather enough money to buy a nice Tesla, I will continue to keep dreaming about it.

Voyage électrique / Road Trip

Dans la tête des gens, seulement certaines autos peuvent supporter un long voyage à travers les USA. Traverser le pays de long en large requiert souvent un véhicule comfortable et fiable. Toutefois, la compagnie Tesla Motors veut prouver le contraire.

C’est ce matin que la compagnie enverra son auto électrique dans un voyage qui partira de Los Angeles jusqu’à Détroit, juste à temps pour le North American International Auto Show. Ils prouveront que leur auto, la Tesla electric Roadster peut être bien plus qu’un auto pour faire de courtes distances. Le voyage, qui prendrait habituellement 6 jours avec un automobile à essence, en prendra 19. Le tout est planifié pour trouver des endroits pour recharger la batterie. En tout, 16 employés se relaieront au cours du trajet.

On pense que lorsque l’économie aura repris du poil à la bête, le prix à la pompe sera à 4$/gallon. Un bien y penser pour le choix de votre prochaine automobile. La Tesla Roadster serait sûrement un choix judicieux. En plus, elle est bien cute!

In people’s head, only some cars can bear a long trip throughout USA. To go across the country often require a comfortable and reliable car. However, Tesla Motors wants to prove it wrong.

It is this morning that the company will send its electric car in a trip that will leave Los Angeles to Detroit, just in time for the North American International Auto Show. They will prove that the car they manufacture, the Tesla Roadster can be more than a commute vehicle. The trip, that normally takes 6 days to achieve with a normal automobile, will take 19 with their car. Everything is carefully planned to find places to recharge their battery. In all, 16 Tesla employees will drive the car to destination.

We think when the economy picks up, the gas price will climb to 4$/gallon. Next time you need a car, think electric! And the Tesla Roadster is a nice choice. Not to add also, that the car is a real cutie!
