Tangerine Moon

La semaine dernière, j’ai eue le grand plaisir et honneur de voir la fille, Athena, d’une de mes bonnes amies (celle qui vient de graduer) en première page de notre journal local. Avec quelques amies, elles ont créés un magazine, Tangerine Moon, qui en est à sa deuxième publication. Il n’en fallait pas plus que j’achète une édition.

Ce weekend, j’ai eue la chance de voir 3 participantes du magazine et j’avais mon édition en main. J’en ai profitée pour faire autographier ma copie et prendre une photo avec ces jolies demoiselles. Bref, l’équipe a conçu un magazine pour les jeunes filles. Imprimé quatres couleurs sur du papier recyclé, le produit fini est remarquable quand on sait que ces jeunes filles n’ont que 11 ou 12 ans.

Elles n’ont pas encore de système d’abonnement donc pour ceux qui sont intéressés à lire Tangerine Moon, ils doivent se le procurer à la librairie Bookshop Santa Cruz.

Last week, I had the great pleasure and honor to see one of my good friend’s daughter, Athena on our local newspaper frontpage. With a few friends, they created a magazine, Tangerine Moon, that is already to its second edition. It was too tempting to not buy a copy for myself.

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to meet 3 girls who took part of this magazine project and I had my very own copy with me. They gladly autographed the magazine and someone took a picture of myself with the girls. Printed in four colors on recycled paper, the finished products is impressive when we know that the heads behind this project are only 11 or 12 years old.

They still don’t offer subscriptions but for those of you who are local and want to get your hand on a copy of Tangerine Moon, you have to buy it at Bookshop Santa Cruz.

Ah, qu’on aime donc pas les républicains à Santa Cruz! Et notre tête de turc favorite après la famille Bush: nulle autre que Sarah Palin!

Santa Cruz, ville réputée pour supporter la légalization de la marijuana et le mariage entre même sexe, fera sûrement parler d’elle avec cette nouvelle idée. La librairie Bookshop Santa Cruz offre tout un deal pour les acheteurs du nouveau livre de Sarah Palin: un sac de noix gratuit! C’est du deux pour un! Le petit sac de noix, qu’on a intitulé “Just plain Nutz; so nutty, it’s scary” en a fait rire plus d’un.

Ce n’est pas la première foix que la librairie offre un tel deal. Par le passé, quand Rush Limbaugh a sortit son livre “See I Told You So” en 1993, la librairie avait vendue son livre pour le prix du baloney. Ils avaient fait de même avec le livre de Newt Gringrich en 1995 en donnant un sac de vomissage a tout bon acheteur. Ca fait sourire en cette journée froid de novembre…

Ah, we just don’t like Republicans in Santa Cruz! And our favorite character to tease after the Bush family: nobody else than Sarah Palin.

Santa Cruz, famous for supporting left-wing causes such as same-sex marriage and legalizing marijuana will be the talk of the town with this new idea. Bookshop Santa Cruz is offering a deal for any Sarah Palin’s book buyers: a free nut bag! It is a two-for-one deal! The small nut bag, that we called “Just plain Nutz; so nutty, it’s scary”, will make people laugh for sure.

It is not the first time that this bookstore has this sort of deal. In the past, when Rush Limbaugh came out in 1993 with his book, “See I Told You So”, the bookstore was selling his book at the price of the baloney. They did the same thing with Newt Gringrich’s book in 1995; the book came with a barf bag. It really makes me smile on this cold November day…
