Artiste visionnaire / Visionary Artist

La plupart des artistes ont un sujet d’intérêt et se consacre principalement à créer des peintures ou dessins vis à vis ce sujet. C’est ce que l’artiste visionnaire Bruce Harman fait.

Ses peintures sont inspirées par des visions vues en période de méditations ou moments de tranquilité. Il utilise principalement son airbrush ou pinceaux pour terminer ses peintures. Après avoir reçu son diplôme universitaire au Philadelphia College of Art en 1980, il a déménagé en Californie pour vivre de son art. Il fait beaucoup d’art public, tel que les boîtes électrique dans la région de la Californie centrale.

Most of the artists are being inspired by a subject and decide to devote their art on that subject. This is what visionary artist Bruce Harman did.

His paintings are inspired by vision, meditation periods or quiet moments he had. He mostly use airbrush or paintbrush to finish his paintings. After getting his degree from the Phildelphia College of Art in 1980, Harman moved to California to make a living as an artist. He made a lot of public art, such as his recent electric boxes in central California.

Once again, another talented central coast California artist!

Embellir une boîte laide / Embellish an ugly box

La commission culturelle et artistique de Capitola avait eu l’idée de lancer un concours il y a quelque temps pour changer le paysage de leur coins de rues. Souvent, on y retrouvait des boîtes électrique énorme et laide qui polluaient l’environnement visuel. L’idée était de trouver un artiste qui voudrait peindre sur les boîtes afin de l’embellir un petit peu.

Le grand gagnant de ce concours, Bruce Harman (http://harmanvisions.com) de Santa Cruz, a reçu comme mission de peinturer 8 de ces boîtes à travers la ville avec une scène d’aquarium.

Il a terminé quelques boîtes à date avec des images de jellyfish, le poisson garibaldi, la morue anguille et la basse striée. Pour ceux qui sont déjà dans le coin, on peut voir les boites terminées sur Capitola Road au coin de 30th avenue, au coin de 38th avenue et sur la rue Clares. Il devrait avoir terminé à la fin août.

Enfin, c’était temps de mettre l’art dans notre environnement!

The Capitola Arts and Cultural Commission had the idea to have a contest a little while ago so it could transform its street corners environment. Often, there were some ugly utility boxes that were stack by the streetlight and didn’t really fit with the natural environment. The idea was to find a commissioned artist to paint on these boxes so it would embellish them a bit.

The grand winner of this contest, Bruce Harm (http: harmanvisions.com) from Santa Cruz, received for mission to paint 8 of these boxes throughout the city of Capitola with an aquarium scenery.

He has finished some boxes with images of jellyfish, the garibaldi fish, the moray eel, and the striped bass. For all of you who are in town, you can see the finished boxes on Capitola road at the corner of 30th avenue, corner of 38th avenue, and on Clares Street. He should have finished painting all 8 of the boxes by late August.

Finally, it was time to put some art in our environment!
